Today is the beginning of National Women’s History Month! We are incredibly grateful for the women on our staff at both campuses who make our life-saving work possible. Kaysie Preston, Care Coordinator at our women’s campus, plays a vital role in connecting women recovering from substance use disorders with outside providers and specialists. She ensures that they receive the care they need while in our recovery program. Thank you, Kaysie, for all the dedication and compassion you bring to the women at Healing Transitions. #HealingTransitions #Recovery #LongTermRecovery #NationalWomensHistoryMonth

Derek Jones, a proud alumnus of Healing Transitions, continues to give back in meaningful ways. He provides employment opportunities to individuals in the final stages of the program, sponsors men on their recovery journey, and plays a vital role in the culinary planning for our annual Recovery Champions’ Gratitude Dinner. In his interview, Derek shared, "Giving back has been the key to staying sober and living a happy life. I try to keep in the forefront of my mind that I wouldn’t have any of what I do if this place didn’t exist." Derek’s dedication to supporting others in their recovery is a true testament to the power of community and giving back. The NC State Extension Master Gardeners have been volunteering at Healing Transitions for the past 10 years. They work hands-on with participants at both campuses, teaching them how to maintain the gardens throughout the year and utilize compost. Oftentimes, the produce grown in these gardens is used in our kitchen to prepare meals for participants. We sat down with Christine Wagner and Cris Clemmons to discuss their involvement as Master Gardeners, the rewarding experiences they’ve had, and the meaningful relationships they’ve built with participants along the way. You can watch their interview, part of our Volunteer Spotlight Series, here: https://lnkd.in/ed_VttZh #HealingTransitions #Volunteers #MasterGardeners

Joseph Daniel McQuany, known as Joe McQ, created Recovery Dynamics®, a structured series of 28 lessons that incorporate the principles of the Twelve Steps. He was also the founder of Serenity Park, Inc. and the Kelly Foundation, Inc. in Little Rock, Arkansas. The success rate of recovery at Serenity House led many treatment facilities to seek to replicate this program. For over 40 years, Joe dedicated his life to helping others discover the joy of recovery through the original Twelve Steps. At Healing Transitions, we celebrate Joe’s legacy with a dedicated space—the Joe McQ Room—where participants engage in open, educational meetings that foster a supportive community using the Recovery Dynamics® curriculum. During Black History Month, we continue to recognize Joe’s profound impact on the lives of those who have walked through our doors, benefiting from his groundbreaking work in recovery education. #BlackHistoryMonth #Recovery #Legacy
