Indigenous Knowledge is universally sacred, in my opinion - we ought to give it a bigger platform. and more consideration. There is SO much to learn. And there is enough time. I want to urge ALL of us to unlearn the notion that "time is moving too fast". Time is moving as time moves. The onus is on us to SLOW DOWN. And "BE STILL", per lesson #1 in this wonderful piece of writing. One of my mothers used to say something similar. If she ever saw you running around like a [⚠️ possibly triggering imagery ahead ] headless chicken, she would shake her head and say "genda buhoro buhoro, nta nzu iriko irasha". Roughly translated from Kirundi, one of my mother tongues, it means "Slow down, there is no house on fire". 🌷
My favourite thing about being Indigenous is the teachings I have been blessed with. They are a source of strength, connection, and intergenerational wisdom. The best teachings always come from my elders, my old ones, or as we say in our Coast Salish cultures, my Siem's (very respected people).
