This week we have another Where are they now? installment on 'Our Milky Way'. Here's a snippet from Lucy Ellen Towbin, LCSW: "New mothers need so much emotional support. They don’t need people to take care of the baby. Bringing food and running errands for them is helpful. But I think what gets overlooked is how much they need to be told that they’re going to make it, that they will survive this early period of no sleep, and not knowing if they are doing a good job. They need reassurance that this difficult time is normal and they need to be told they will get through this." https://lnkd.in/ebba3TM5

The commercial milk formula industry targets healthcare providers because they understand providers' influence on parents’ decisions. A group of leading healthcare professional associations is compiling case studies, references, guidance on how to manage without sponsorship, and more to help any associations in ending such sponsorship. This effort is NOT a restriction on parental choice. All healthcare providers must support parents in what is best for their families. It is the inappropriate marketing of commercial milk formula that interferes with parents getting accurate information to make decisions. #endexploitativemarketing https://lnkd.in/dgQNpdef To learn more about the industry's tactics, check out the Lancet's 2023 series here ---> https://lnkd.in/ecSRDRub
