Our Mission: To Improve the Lives of Veterinarians
About us
Heartland Veterinary Partners is a support organization that is committed to improving the lives of veterinarians. We purchase veterinary practices and provide operational support to relieve administrative burdens such as payroll, recruiting, HR, marketing and accounts payables. If needed, we invest to support growth. The practices maintain their unique branding, culture and clinical autonomy. At Heartland, we believe that selling a veterinary practice shouldn’t mean losing what makes it remarkable. When we acquire a practice, the doctor comes first. We listen closely to their needs in order to create a one-of-a-kind solution to ease their administrative burdens—all without disrupting their day-to-day operations, the culture they’ve fostered, and the relationships they’ve built. In other words, the name over the door doesn’t go away. The headaches of running a business do. Partnering veterinarians appreciate an improved work-life balance, less financial worry, and the confidence that their teams will be in good hands. Best of all, they get to focus on why they entered the business in the first place: to care for animals and to be present when their clients need them most. Practice team members enjoy the warm culture of their individual community practices combined with the support and resources that Heartland brings to the table. Improving the lives of veterinarians means supporting them at all stages of their careers. Whether you're a veterinary student or a new graduate looking for hands-on learning to begin your career or an experienced veterinarian looking to tackle management and leadership opportunities, we keep your goals at the heart of everything we do. The Heartland Support Center team is hardwired to serve. We follow the philosophy of servant leadership and put the needs of others first with a genuine desire to help. As a result, Heartland’s practices count on team members to be there for them with heart and solution, not a corporate agenda.

In the spirit of providing doctors and their teams with the tools and training they seek, our recent therapy laser session in Ohio hit the spot. This training helped the team deepen their expertise and explore the transformative benefits of laser therapy in modern veterinary medicine. What did this training look like? - Hands-on training - Understanding which patients can benefit from laser therapy - A cat in goggles 😺😎 Renaud Houyoux, one of Heartland's Training Coordinators, says, "Vet medicine is always evolving and therapy laser is a leading-edge treatment. This training helps doctors and practice teams use this laser therapy most effectively in their practices to enhance patient care for both post-op and non-surgical treatments." Heartland's Organizational Growth and Development team offers both on-site and virtual laser trainings to help practices take advantage of this pain-free, non-invasive treatment and elevate the level of care they offer patients. #continuedlearning #vetmed

Last weekend, we hosted an incredible dentistry and oral surgery wet lab for several of our Midwest doctors! 🦷 From understanding oral anatomy, mastering nerve blocks, using dental surgical equipment, and interpreting radiographs, our participants dove deep into essential skills. The event culminated in a hands-on surgical extraction lab, where everyone had the chance to put their new knowledge in practice. Our Strategic Initiatives team is here to help our doctors grow and expand their practice offerings with training opportunities throughout the year. Heartland's Dentistry Program Training Manager Megan Oldfather says, "My favorite part of practice trainings is seeing the moments of understanding just wash over people's faces. Those lightbulb moments for the teams make what I do so fulfilling." #veterinarydentistry #continuouslearning #vetmed

Every day, they experience the positive impact pets have on their families, from reducing stress to providing comfort and companionship. Here’s to all the animals who make our lives brighter and the dedicated souls that care for them! #InternationalHumanAnimalBondDay #HumanAnimalBond #VeterinaryMedicine

In the next few weeks, many students will take the NAVLE. We’ve been there and know how stressful it can be! Here are some words of wisdom from our team, Jessi Farris, DVM, MBA, Adam C. Duris, DVM, Brandy Duhon, Shawna Huston, Daniel Boggs, to help you prepare for and stay calm and confident during the exam: 1. Trust Your Training: Remember the long hours, case studies, and practicals. Your hard work has prepared you more than you realize. 2. Practice, Practice, Practice: Create a realistic study plan and focus on practice questions to strengthen your timing and familiarity with the NAVLE format. 3. Take Breaks: Your brain needs rest to retain information. Balance studying with exercise, good sleep, and time for yourself. 4. Stay Positive: This exam doesn’t define you—it’s simply the next step in your journey. Be kind to yourself along the way! To all the future DVMs about to take this big step, you’ve got this! 💪🐾 #NAVLE #FutureDVM #DVMadvice #VeterinaryMedicine #ExamPrep #VetSchoolLife

This past weekend, we had the honor of hosting a most amazing group of veterinary students at our Destination Heartland event. The experience was designed to show future veterinarians what professional growth and development can look like as a new graduate. 🎉 We enjoyed a weekend filled with fun activities like bowling, a visit to one of our practices, and a scenic dinner cruise in downtown Chicago. Most importantly, these students had some valuable takeaways from the weekend including: 🤝 Connections with peers and leaders - Creating genuine bonds and sharing the passion we have for the vet med industry 🌱 Practical Professional Development - Understanding leadership styles, discovering our one-of-a-kind new graduate mentorship program, and learning about skill growth at the practice level 🔎 An inside look at Heartland - Our mission, values, and deep commitment to our DVMs We are so excited for the prospect of welcoming the next generation of veterinarians to the Heartland family! 🙌 #DestinationHeartland #FutureVets #VetMedStudents #HangingwithHeartland #Mentorship #VeterinaryCareers
