I met Kara A. at the Mrs. Oregon Pageant in 2012. I was 6 week post-partum and had to find a place to pump backstage. I never thought of myself as a "pageant person" but my business coach Kedma Ough suggest a pageant as a way to increase my confidence speaking in public settings about my business. Thank you for the push out of my comfort zone : ) In pageants I found a group of ladies committed to serving their communities and unabashedly ambitious. You know that tribe of supporters that toot each other's horns and remind each other that we can do big things? No drama or BS? That's my pageant crew - and Kara is front and center! Kara was a pageant veteran and I watched the way she prepared to walk out on stage as the best version of herself. I still remember the robin egg blue suit she wore - stunning! Now years later our paths cross again as HelloCare uses KC Creative for our social media. Most of the posts on our accounts come from Kara and her team and they are fabulous. Her newest service, a senior day lounge, is a testament to her commitment to serving her community. Today, I had the pleasure of capturing the magic of what she and her team do while experiencing the smiles and laughter she brings to those in her care. We had a leadership retreat last week. This is the beginning of the day - we did some hard work after this photo was taken. We do a lot right at HelloCare but have giant opportunities to improve. Better care for caregivers, higher level of service for clients and families and staying sane when the world is going crazy around us. Heavy stuff to solve. And the reality is we didn’t solve all the problems. We are embracing uncertainty. Recommitting to the mission of caring for caregivers takes energy and intention.
