The day has finally arrived when we announce our 2024 #ResourceFULLness Award winner! This year's award of $50,000 goes to… Helping Paws, Inc.! Congratulations! 🎉👏 Helping Paws (HP) is a leading nonprofit organization that breeds, trains, and places assistance dogs with people who have physical disabilities and veterans and first responders with PTSD. Their award-winning initiative, "More Dogs, More Impact" Breeding Program Expansion, leveraged social media and a unique prize to engage with followers and incentivize them to share and donate. This, coupled with a matching fund opportunity, excited donors and supporters alike and enabled Helping Paws to secure their annual target and triple their placement of dogs from 16 to 63 by 2027. Helping Paws, Inc. reposted this
The most consequential relationships in my life are with members of the U.S. military and veteran communities. They've impressed a permanent mark on my story and I'm thrilled with PeakMade Real Estate's action in creating Employee Resource Group's, which provide space for associates to foster connections centered around their unique identities. One such group is our Veteran's ERG, which I'm lucky to act as executive sponsor for and work along side our chair, Michael Ruybal, who serves in the U.S. Army. Last week I moderated a panel where Michael, along with Ashlie Ellis, a U.S. Army veteran, and Cari Collins, an active military spouse, shared with genuine candor their experiences and an invitation to participate in recognition of our veterans, active duty service members, and military families more often than today. Within the daily 9-5 is the opportunity to ensure we're meeting military members and families where they're at as they seek civilian jobs, and while there are dozens of organizations doing that work, here are a few I'm particularly fond of and that our ERG looks to as we widen our impact. RecruitMilitary creates connections between veterans and hiring managers across the country and is somewhere I look every time I have room within my teams, and Hiring Our Heroes and The Honor Foundation are similar such organizations with the goal of providing a smooth transition to the private sector for veterans. Veterati gives civilians the chance to offer mentoring sessions in their respective fields to transitioning military and family members - the impact of these sessions is immediate and often has widespread effects. Outside the workplace, I'd be remiss to not call attention to Helping Paws, Inc., which aims to improve the lives of veterans by partnering them with service dogs, easing the integration between their military experiences and civilian life. I fostered and trained a dog, Mulligan, several years ago and he was ultimately paired with a U.S. Army veteran named Bri - it remains one of the best, best things I've had the opportunity to do. However you mark Memorial Day, I hope a resounding message is that the most significant memorial in honoring the sacrifice of our veterans and their families are ordinary actions we take in the everyday, not just one day.

Wonderful volunteers, changing lives every day!
Helping Paws, Inc. is a phenomenal organization that relies on volunteers like Jolene to train service dogs o make the world more accessible for people with physical disabilities and military and first responders with PTSD. Alyssa Golob and the entire team have done an amazing job and most recently moved the organization to a larger facility to support the growing need for more service animals. THANK YOU, JOLENE and the entire Helping Paws team!
