A happy Veterans Day to all that have served and we are especially honored to celebrate our very own Trent Baker. To that end, we asked him a few questions and would love to share that with our community. Q: What inspired you to join Hempitecture, and how does it align with your personal values? A: Throughout my career, I've held diverse roles across various industries, working for companies with differing levels of environmental commitment. Ultimately, my motivation came down to wanting my daughters to experience the beauty of this world just as my wife and I did growing up. With climate change impacting every aspect of our lives, choosing to work for a manufacturing company that produces a carbon-negative product was an easy decision. This role allows me to contribute directly to addressing climate change and creating a more sustainable future. Q: What’s a typical day at the facility? A: There’s no such thing as a "typical" day. We’re pioneering new products using processes originally designed for other fibers, and we understand the daily challenges this brings. My primary focus is helping individuals see how their work drives impact. With years of manufacturing experience, I regularly share my learnings and give my team the tools they need to execute. Q: How do you see our impact on the environment, and what part of your work are you most proud of? A: The greatest impact of our work is showing that a manufacturing company can produce a community-beneficial product without compromising the environment. We're not only striving to leave a better world for future generations but also driving meaningful change in the building industry and protecting our planet. Q: What challenges have you faced in sustainable manufacturing, and how has the team worked together to overcome them? A: Sustainable manufacturing comes with many challenges, one of the biggest being cost, as the least expensive options are often the most harmful to the environment. Our team is committed to overcoming this by prioritizing regional, and eco-friendly materials. We’re constantly seeking ways to enhance efficiency, aiming to increase production without consuming additional energy. Q: If you had a magic wand, how would you complete this sentence: In 3 years from now, Hempitecture will have… A: transformed the industry and unequivocally become the top choice for builders worldwide as the preferred insulation and construction material.

Thank you to Idaho National Laboratory for this wonderful writeup.
Hempitecture, a company that produces plant-based insulation and acoustic building materials from hemp fibers, saw the potential to use the hemp dust and fiber short straw or waste for creating biomass pellets or absorbents. 🍃 To test and analyze their product, Hempitecture teamed with experts at INL's Biomass Feedstock National User Facility (BFNUF). BFNUF helps the bioenergy industry overcome challenges related to turning sources such as wood, biomass energy crops, municipal solid waste and agricultural residues into valuable fuels and clean chemicals. Excited to announce that we have been awarded $8.4m from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) ⚡⚡ WASHINGTON, D.C. — As part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s historic Investing in America agenda, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today announced $428 million for 14 projects to accelerate domestic clean energy manufacturing in 15 coal communities across the United States. The projects, led by small-and medium-businesses in communities with de-commissioned coal facilities, were selected by DOE’s Office of Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains (MESC) to address critical energy supply chain vulnerabilities. We're honored to receive this funding under the DOE Manufacturing & Energy Supply Chains Office (MESC) and look forward to how this will catalyze not just the future of Hempitecture, but the future of biobased, agricultural commodity driven, carbon reducing commodities in the USA 🇺🇸 Read more about this historic announcement👇👇 https://lnkd.in/gJjRxMRZ

Happy Indigenous People's Day! We are proud to support and strengthen Idaho's tribal communities - This week, for every 10 pallets of insulation sold, we will be donating a pallet to support the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes and their construction project needs. Here's a quick read on hemp's deep historical roots within the Native American culture. https://lnkd.in/g96g4TNG #indigenouspeoplesday
