About us
Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute (HHRI) has been actively investigating the causes of and potential treatments for diseases since it was founded as Minneapolis Medical Research Foundation (MMRF) in 1952. We support and oversee the medical research conducted at HCMC, Hennepin Healthcare's nationally recognized Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center and acute care research and teaching hospital located in downtown Minneapolis. HHRI is one of the largest medical research non-profits in Minnesota. Our researchers are experts in their fields. They conduct basic, translational, clinical and epidemiologic research with a focus on four areas: Acute Care/Trauma, Addiction, Health Services and Infectious Diseases (HIV/AIDS). In an environment that emphasizes patient care, research and teaching, HHRI is at the forefront of discovering solutions to some of the most complex medical problems. The work of our investigators is advancing medicine, guided by our mission of improving patient care and the health of our community through research and education.

Kristina S. Burrack is so close to reaching her $15K goal of traveling to Antarctica in the final leg of the Homeward Bound #STEMM leadership program. Can you help her reach the finish line?
2 weeks from today I will arrive in Ushuaia, Argentina, where I will meet over 100 other women in STEMM from around the world. I'll embark on an extraordinary expedition to Antarctica and continue my #leadership journey with #HBTransform, Homeward Bound Projects. 🌎 Homeward Bound is a global, transformational leadership initiative designed to: - amplify women's voices in STEMM - develop strategic leadership capabilities - drive positive change for a sustainable global future - establish and foster a global network of women and non-binary individuals I'm just shy of raising $15k for the voyage component of my leadership journey with Homeward Bound. Check out the comments for my fundraising page. I'm grateful to everyone who has donated so far - I will be worthy of your investment! 🙏

This story focuses on the work of the #RestorativeNeurotraumaLab, co-led by David Darrow, MD, PhD, and Samuel Cramer, MD, PhD, and the #ESTAND trial. 24-year-old #ESTAND trial participant and former professional #motocross racer, Evan Faucett talks about how his life is improving with the help of an epidural stimulator. Here's a sneak peek: "In the blink of an eye, 24-year-old Evan Faucett’s world turned upside down during a motocross competition when his bike landed without him. That life-changing moment was over six years ago on July 9, 2018. It’s been a long road to recovery, but with the help of the Epidural Stimulation After Neurologic Damage (E-STAND) study implant and the Restorative Neurotrauma Lab (RNL) with Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) and Neurosurgeon, David Darrow, MD, PhD, at the helm, his quality of life has vastly improved."
