WAA's remembrance wreath campaign culminates on December 14 during National Wreaths Across America Day. Our Executive Director Nicole Spencer joined Second Summer Cycle founder, Calmer Choice Chair, and Scargo Cafe owner David Troutman in sharing their wisdom, expertise, and tips around event planning to other nonprofit leaders in the region. We're grateful to Philanthropy Partners of the Cape and Islands Inc. for organizing another inspiring Philanthropy Day and for inviting Nicole to lead one of today's sessions. Thank you as well to Kara Logan Berlin for sharing her insights as the day's Keynote Speaker and as a Presenter. It was a joyful day celebrating our veterans at our 2nd Annual Friendsgiving luncheon at Cape Cod Irish Village. Our event drew 120 people, including veterans who served in the Korean War, Vietnam War, the Afghanistan War, and Iraq War as well as their loved ones. Oh, and let's not forget horses in the hotel lobby who greeted attendees! Friendsgiving was an opportunity to express our gratitude to veterans for their service — and share the many ways Heroes In Transition is here to support veterans, service members, and military families through the programs we offer, all year long. #Veterans #VeteransDay #Resilience #Community #CapeCod #Military #Friendsgiving

When our President and Co-founder Cyndy Jones lost her only son, U.S. Marine Corps Captain Eric A. Jones, in 2009, it was three things that got her through this tragic loss — faith, hope, and love. "But the greatest of these is love," she said during tonight's 15th Annual Fall Gala at The Coonamessett. "This love has broadened my focus in life. In fact it has given me a purpose and an understanding. Sometimes the way is excruciatingly painful. But there's always a purpose." We are grateful to all who attended the 2024 Gala and to all who have supported HIT — and Cyndy — over the past 15 years. Your love has turned Cyndy's purpose into a force for so much good in our community. Starting the day at Cape Cod Coffee with the Mashpee Chamber of Commerce and Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce was a great call! HIT is always ready to tell our story, be it in connecting with those with the shared background of military service about joining our growing community, or with business owners and other non-profit leaders who would like to support our work. Heroes In Transition (HIT) is honored to announce the addition of Meghan Keller and Michael Assad Jr, MSCJ Assad Jr. to the HIT Board of Directors. Both Meghan and Michael were introduced to HIT through our Ruck4HIT and have since deepened their involvement in our organization's work. “With Meghan being a combat Army veteran and with Mike having more than two decades’ worth of experience as a police officer, they have a deep-seated knowledge of the importance of our work and the need for it in our community.
