Starting January 1, 2025, California’s minimum wage goes up to $16.50 per hour, which means that the minimum salary for exempt employees will increase from $66,560 per year to $68,640 per year ($1,320 per week). In some industries---including fast food and health care---the hourly minimum wage is higher, as is true in some cities and counties. The minimum wage within San Diego’s city limits increases to $17.25 per hour to start the new year.
