"At the end of the day, we can do all this really great technical work but if the community isn't engaged, and they aren't part of the process, who are we building it for?" says our General Manager of Communications & Stakeholder Engagement Anita B.. Since August, we've met more than 5,000 people at almost 90 community events across the #HunterValley, #Newcastle, the #CentralCoast and #Sydney. Our conversations with communities and stakeholders have informed our work to connect Newcastle to Sydney with high speed rail. We've also officially launched the National High Speed Rail Hub, a community information centre in Newcastle where people can come and find more information about #HSR in Australia. The Hub opens early 2025, keep an eye on our website for opening times. Tim Parker

“We've actually got the skills and technology here now in Australia to do this type of complex work,” our CEO Tim Parker tells James O'Loghlin on Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) Radio Sydney. In this extended interview, Tim gives an update on how Australia’s first high speed railway could be delivered: ✅ On track: The business case to connect Newcastle to Sydney will be submitted to the Australian Government at the end of this year. 🚅 Engineering: tunnelling is emerging as the preferred option between the Central Coast and Sydney due to topographical challenges, with geotechnical work currently underway on the Hawkesbury River. 🕐 Travel times: About an hour from Newcastle to Sydney and 30 minutes from the Central Coast to Newcastle or Sydney, more than twice as fast as now. 🔁 Connectivity: More options for where people live and work, and enhancing access to housing, medical services and education between Newcastle, Sydney and the Central Coast. 🛠️ Construction: our highly skilled construction sector for mega projects did not exist 10 years ago at this scale, with projects like Sydney Metro, Metro Tunnel Project and Cross River Rail developing world-class capabilities. Take a listen. #HighSpeedRail #HSR
