How did Trump leverage social media to help his campaign? According to People First (HGL 3) women with followings of 1,000 to 10,000 played a key role in driving conversations. We are building an ecosystem for political technology to help progressives win.
About us
Higher Ground Labs is building an ecosystem for progressive political technology. We provide capital, assistance, programming, and mentorship to talented individuals and early-stage companies that are building the next generation of progressive political technology that can help win campaigns. The current ecosystem around progressives' campaign and persuasive tech is broken. It lacks committed capital, sustained mentorship, and a network of active supporters to make new ideas successful. Rather than build tech and data infrastructure from the bottom up, progressives have instead relied on Presidential campaigns as their innovation hubs, generating a recurring pattern of short-term thinking from hard-working but under-resourced campaign staff who tasked with innovating on products while trying to win national-scale campaigns. Our programming is designed to spark and nurture new collaborations and startups, and to strengthen the bonds of connectivity across progressive tech. It includes (1) an active accelerator for companies building scalable political technology, (2) fellowships that allow individuals to explore ideas for solutions to problems, (3) a recurring summit for political and technology experts to forge alliances and share ideas, and (4) ad hoc events like conferences and hackathons that deepen and reinforce the ecosystem.

Please join us in congratulating 2024 Expy Award winners, Civitech (HGL 2019) and INTRVL (HGL 5)! 🏆 The “Hidden Gems” Award WINNER: Civitech Civitech showed that new Democratic voters are everywhere—if you know where to look! Their voter registration efforts in Idaho boosted voter registration rates by up to 3.66 percentage points (pp), with SMS outreach in redder districts driving the greatest lift—a good reminder that simple outreach in unexpected places can have a major impact. 🏆 The “Sky's the Limit” Award WINNER: INTRVL Conservation Voters of Pennsylvania soared to new heights with their 2023 digital campaign, leveraging INTRVL’s Max Lift methodology to optimize targeting. Built on in-field measurements from Earthjustice Action’s 2022 Senate campaigns, they focused on the likely most persuadable voters, achieving a 35% higher lift in the top tiers. Additional funding went to the most promising audience segments, further boosting results and highlighting the power of data-driven optimization.
