"How the hell is this possible?" Aaron Holm, Founder of PatientCircle Research Institute, shared with Joey Aquino and our attendees how his story of going through heart surgery lead to the realization that the lack of peer coaching was a critical issue affecting patient outcomes in the health system. "There's 50 million major surgeries in the US every year, and every one of them is a scheduled trauma. And we do not treat it like that. And how is it that every surgery patient goes into surgery and doesn't talk to anybody who's been through it? The only people who they can relate with...Nobody talks to anybody who's been through them. And I'm just like, how the hell is this possible? So then I started just going down the path, and I started doing a research project with my hospital, and I said, let me coach some patients before they go into surgery, and I guarantee you it'll change their rates of anxiety and depression. And I guarantee you they'll go to rehab. And if you do those things, then you change all the cost metrics and all the depression metrics. And I said, I know it'll work. And somehow they listened."

We LOVE seeing tech companies accelerate their momentum during HTW!
Today, we're launching Holoholo on Product Hunt! It's an app that combines your photos, journal, places, and paths into daily memories. We made it because we wanted something super simple and automatic that can help us remember our days without sacrificing privacy. Building a startup is indeed very hard. It feels like it's been a really long journey already, but it also feels like we barely just got started :) Working on this has definitely had more extreme highs and lows, but investing our time, our energy, our savings has been worth every moment. This is by far the most rewarding work I've done. We'd love your support! It would really help us a lot if you could review and add comments on our Product Hunt page: ➡️ https://lnkd.in/g8VdvYzd Feel free to repost and share to your friends as well! ~ This is a big milestone for us, and I'd like to thank those who've helped us along the way... Chloë Michelle Foden for coaching us from the very beginning. Lauren Antonoff for believing in us early and backing that belief. Guy Kawasaki for giving us critical direction and gifting us our new app name. Aaron Holm, Amit Gupta, Tracy Lawrence, Greg Goldfarb, Effy Zhang – for being so generous with your time and giving us startup advice. Michael B. – Honolulu Tech Week opened so many doors for us Sean M. Feeney, UXHI, Piʻikū Co. – for helping us build a walking community. Cheryl Sybico, Maksym Krylov, and Eileen Lee – for being our powerusers, sending us constant feedback. Kangen Roshi, Cristina Moon, Carl He – for training and keeping our spirits high through it all. Robbie Sybico, Eric Ngo – thank you for your trust, for going all-in and for building this with me. 💓
