We are excited to learn that the Eugene YMCA has been recognized as a DJC Top Project Honoree! Open for business in Dec. 2023, the new Eugene YMCA is not just a gym, it’s a vibrant community center that brings people of all ages together. The Hohbach-Lewin, Eugene office is proud to be a part of the talented design team that worked to create this community space. The multi-use facility includes a natatorium, gymnasium, fitness and wellness facilities, childcare center and more. The structural design posed unique challenges that required a creative approach and solutions. The structure boasts an elevated 3-lane running track that is suspended from the roof structure, a 500 sf cantilever entry canopy and a 90ft span steel girder weighing around 15,000 pounds. This 75,000 sf facility has been artfully designed by PIVOT Architecture, and their attention to detail shines throughout the space. Our latest completed project, working with Chambers Construction Co. Construction on the new student housing building at Bakersfield College is set to begin this spring. Hohbach-Lewin provided structural design for the 4 story wood-framed building which adds 154 beds of affordable housing to the Bakersfield College community. This project was one of the first 10 projects funded under SB 169 signed into California law in 2021. SB 169 provided $1B is state dollars to support the construction of desperately needed housing for community college students.
