COP29 showcased why humankind cannot wait on governments to solve the climate crisis. As HOK's Director of Sustainability Anica Landreneau writes in her recap of this year's UN Climate Summit, it's time for private entities and individuals to take the lead. "We must be the actors." #cop29 #climatechange #aecindustry

✈️ Congratulations to our airport clients soaring to the top of the charts for the World’s Busiest Airports! Dallas Fort Worth, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta and Chicago O’Hare international airports were named #1, #2 and #3 busiest airports around the world for their number of passengers served, daily flights and destinations served. HOK is part of a joint venture team transforming Terminals A and C at DFW, a component of its DFW Forward capital improvement plan. At ATL, HOK led the joint venture team that designed improvements to the airport’s domestic passenger terminal, including two soaring structural steel canopies that provide a welcoming ‘front door’ to the airport. HOK teamed with Muller2 on the ORD Terminal 5 expansion and modernization – the terminal’s first major expansion since it opened in 1993. We love seeing HOK mentioned prominently in Metropolis Magazine's 2024 Products issue. Metropolis Editor-in-Chief Avinash Rajagopal begins the issue's introduction with the following: "A meeting I had at HOK's New York office this spring gave me goose bumps. Christine Vandover, principal and senior project interior designer, and Elizabeth Baxter, senior sustainable design specialist, took me behind the scenes on the firm’s Sustainable Material Tracking initiative—a comprehensive effort across HOK’s global offices to move material selections in interior design toward sustainability, health, and equity." The historic 1910 Magic Chef stove factory on The Hill in St. Louis has been given new life as the modern headquarters for Brown & Crouppen Law Firm, Missouri’s largest injury law firm. This adaptive-reuse project, designed by HOK in collaboration with Third Man Development, marries industrial heritage with contemporary workplace needs. Highlights include: • Preservation of original features like wood floors, exposed brick and columns • Creative repurposing of 1,500 feet of copper bars into design elements • Innovative spaces including an Airstream trailer conference room and mini-golf greens • High-tech amenities balanced with warm, inviting aesthetics This project shows how thoughtful design can transform underutilized spaces, support new ways of working and reinvigorate local communities. It’s a testament to the power of adaptive reuse. Kudos to all involved in bringing this vision to life! Find out more: https://lnkd.in/gffARqXv 📸: Sam Fentress
