Holston Habitat For Humanity is a non-profit organization based in Kingsport TN, focused on creating world where everyone has a decent place to live. Holston Habitat serves the city of Bristol, VA; Sullivan County, TN; Washington County, TN; and Carter County, TN. This affiliate coordinates a New Home program, a small Home Repair program, and two Habitat ReStores. One Restore is in Johnson City, TN, and the other in Kingsport, TN.

❗❗ Update from our Executive Director, Laura Kelly, below on Holston Habitat's response to #HurricaneHelene. Spoiler alert: we're here for the long haul!
📣📣📣 Update about Holston Habitat For Humanity's response to #HurricaneHelene: Holston Habitat For Humanity is committed to being a part of the long-term recovery efforts in East Tennessee. In many parts of ETN and WNC, we are still in complete and utter disaster mode. No power, no water, no cell service - leaving many wondering if loved ones are okay, or worse. It's hard to put this experience into words. Holston Habitat is currently raising funds to rebuild homes in our region (focusing mainly on Carter and Unicoi Counties). It will take time for this work to begin: all immediate health & social service needs must be met, the area must be deemed safe to traverse by local authorities, homes must be mucked out, and then rebuilds can begin. Lots of funding needs to be arranged to make this happen - it's quite an expensive undertaking. Please be patient with us as plans become more clear and the "how" of it all falls into place. PLEASE help us rebuild homes for our neighbors by donating here: https://lnkd.in/eXbwNXAm Every dollar raised at that link helps to build back after Helene. 🏠 We are so thankful for the many ways our community and neighbors near and far have stepped up to support folks in our region. I know two things to be true: The Volunteer State shows UP for each other, and that Appalachian folks are resilient. We will build back, together, over the coming years. 💙

Check out our Executive Director's update from our 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance! A truly special day.
On 9/11, Holston Habitat For Humanity hosted a Veteran Build Day of Service and Remembrance. 16 local veterans and family members of veterans came out for the day to help build a new home for a local Johnson City family. How incredible! I was so struck by all of these individuals: all that they’ve already given to our country, and how service to their community is still so clearly a main focus of their lives. We had almost all branches of the armed services represented (we need you, Space Force!), and I especially loved the start of the day where everyone shared where they found Hope during their time served or waiting on family to return. I almost spit out my water when I overheard some back-and-forth while measuring… “we didn’t have to be this accurate on the battlefield!”. 😅🙈 Our next Veteran Build day will be in Bristol TN on 11/11 - find out more at holstonhabitat.org. 🔨🏡

📣📣 We are proud to announce that our Executive Director, Laura Kelly, was the recipient of the prestigious Habitat TN State Impact Award of Outstanding Leader of the Year 2024!!!! 🌟🌟🌟 This award is given to an individual who has shown exceptional leadership qualities within their own Habitat affiliate. Under Laura's leadership, we have experienced remarkable growth and impact. In the three and a half years since Laura became Holston Habitat's Executive Director, we have completed 15 new or recycled homes, repaired 35 existing homes, and engaged more than 1,000 volunteers in our mission to provide safe and affordable housing. Holston Habitat's Board of Directors expressed pride and admiration for Laura's accomplishments. Holston Habitat’s Executive Director, Laura Kelly, shares a tough update. One of our tool trailers was broken into yesterday, resulting in a $4,000 loss. If you’re able, can you help us replace those lost tools? We lost 35 tools and chargers, including: DeWalt circular saws, cordless drills, impact drivers, DeWalt 18 & 20 volt chargers, reciprocating saws, and more.
