🌟 Practice Makes Progress – On the Field, and in Life 🌟 In sports, practice is a key to growth. Athletes don’t step onto the field immediately expecting perfection; they practice, adjust, and get better with every rep. This same mindset can apply to our mental health and our lives outside of sports. Careers and lives are built on continuous learning, growth, and adaptation—not on achieving perfection. Your mental health deserves the same approach. Building resilience, managing stress, and fostering self-awareness are skills we can build on. It’s not about “getting it right” all the time; instead, we can show up consistently and learn along the way. #HomeTeam #GrowthMindset #Practice #MentalHealthPractice #Athletes #MentalHealthCoaching
HomeTeam - Retired and Injured Athlete Mental Health
Professional Training and Coaching
HomeTeam empowers retired and injured athletes through supportive and athlete-centric mental health growth coaching.
About us
HomeTeam's sole purpose is to solve a real-world problem for athletes transitioning out of their sports careers. Society often views athletes solely through the lens of their sport, and does not see the *whole* person. When their athletic career ends due to retirement or injury, many face the intense question, "Who am I now?" Their support system becomes fragmented, daily structure and physical fitness accountability disappear, and athletes often navigate these complexities alone and without resources. This is where HomeTeam comes in. HomeTeam empowers retired and injured athletes through supportive, athlete-centric, and actionable mental health growth coaching, helping them navigate the critical transition to the next chapter of their lives. Our mission is to eliminate barriers to support, destigmatize seeking help, and offer the services athletes need and deserve.

🌈 Embracing Diversity in Mental Health: A Call to Action 🎯 At HomeTeam, we believe that mental health support should be accessible to ALL Americans, regardless of background, identity, or circumstance. However, we recognize a critical gap in our industry: the lack of diversity in mental health professionals, programs, and funding. Why does this matter? 🤔 1️⃣ Representation matters: When clients see themselves reflected in their mental health providers, it builds trust and understanding. 2️⃣ Cultural competence: Diverse professionals bring unique perspectives and cultural insights that can enhance treatment approaches. 3️⃣ Addressing unique challenges: Different communities face distinct mental health challenges that require specialized understanding. 4️⃣ Innovation through diversity: A variety of voices leads to more creative and comprehensive solutions in mental health care. 5️⃣ Equitable funding: Diverse leadership in mental health startups ensures that resources are allocated to address a wider range of community needs. At HomeTeam, we're committed to fostering diversity in our coaching team and our client base. But we can't do it alone. We're calling on: 👥 Mental health professionals from diverse backgrounds to join our network 💼 Investors to support minority-led mental health startups 🤝 Organizations to partner with us in creating inclusive mental health programs 🎓 Educational institutions to promote mental health careers to underrepresented groups Together, we can create a mental health landscape that truly represents and serves ALL Americans. Join us in this crucial mission! How are you promoting diversity in mental health? Our Founder, Emily, talks about her own experience with Mental Health and dealing with difficult people.
CEO of HomeTeam | Mental Health of Retired & Injured Athletes | Equal Rights Advocate | Former USA & Professional Volleyball Player
*There will always be a "Kendall" *Grounding Meditation Offering I am very very involved in my nieces life. At one point in time I was her guardian (story for another day). She goes to therapy and occasionally I am invited into the room to join her and her therapist. My niece, Lily, was sharing her experience of being bullied by a girl named Kendall. Once Heidi, the therapist, empathized with her, Heidi went on to explain that we all deal with 'Kendall's' in our lives, even as adults. Not only did Heidi normalize the experience, but went on to share that we need to learn strategies for dealing with difficult people. Know anyone?! I do! 🙃 Over the past two days, I have been dealing with people condescendingly speaking to me and one lady having an adult tantrum. I had a moment to myself and cried, my composure was just worn thin. I then decided to ground myself. Here's the grounding exercise called 5-4-3-2-1, which uses our senses: 5- identify five things you can see with your eyes 4- listen and hear four things around you 3- identify three things you can feel through touch on any part of your body 2- smell two things 1- find one last thing you can taste *the cool thing about this is you can do this anywhere and anytime. You don't necessarily have to close your eyes and 'meditate'. I have done this walking, driving, etc I hope this story is helpful! I'd love if you shared your own techniques, or better yet, stories, of how you strategically work with the 'Kendall's' in your life. And don't be a 'Kendall'!! KINDNESS MATTERS. p.s. a picture of me and my niece 💓 I love her! #MentalHealthMatters #KindnessMatters #HomeTeam

I've noticed that many posts about suicide awareness are written by white people. Did you know that Black adolescents are facing a growing crisis? Suicide rates among Black youth have risen by 144%, according to the Suicide Prevention Resource Center. This alarming statistic made me realize the importance of expanding my understanding and awareness, which is why I attended the Man Cave @historicallyblacksince. A big part of the conversation focused on one of the most pressing challenges facing Black communities—which is accessing culturally competent mental health care. One of things I learned in the Man Cave is that Psychology Today has a bunch of filters allowing people to search for therapists based on ethnicity, sexuality, faith, and more—helping break down these barriers. Let me tell you, Psychology Today has come a long way since I was last on their site! I’ll be joining future Man Cave conversations, and I encourage you to check it out too! -Emily, HomeTeam - Founder/CEO #HomeTeam #BlackMentalHealth #SuicidePreventionMonth #GrowthMindset
