About us
The Hood Way - People, Process, Performance Our Vision: To provide rewarding employment opportunities by being a company that is safety-focused, customer centric, process driven, sustainable and growing. Hood Industries, Inc. is a blend of wood manufacturing and distribution concerns that include two plywood and four lumber manufacturing plants, and fourteen specialty wood product distribution operations, located in thirteen states serving the northeast, southeast and southwest United States. After acquiring plywood manufacturing plants in Beaumont and Wiggins, Mississippi, these plants were merged into one company in 1986, Hood Industries. The company continued to grow with acquisitions including four lumber manufacturing plants in Waynesboro and Silver Creek Mississippi, Bogalusa, Louisiana and Metcalfe, Georgia. With these plants, Hood Industries enjoyed phenomenal growth. Because of this growth, the company decided to add broader strength to the company by balancing the manufacturing endeavors with acquisitions in the distribution industry. In 1995, they purchased the McEwen Company from International Paper. Then in 1998, Hood Industries had the opportunity to acquire another specialty distributor, this time in the New England area, the McQuesten Company.

Marshall Callicott, Chris Williams and Ken Stocks of our Procurement team recently visited Louisiana Tech in Ruston to speak with students in the Forestry Club. They discussed employment opportunities at Hood, specifically summer internships. The students learned about the Hood story and our team provided the students with solid career advice.

We are pleased to announce that Samantha Nelson has been named Plant People Operations Manager at Hood's Beaumont Plywood operation. Samantha is no stranger to the Beaumont mill having previously served as Plant People Operations Specialist for two years before recruiting for our Distribution division. In her new role, Samantha will be working with other members of the leadership team at Beaumont to staff the mill ahead of its start-up in 2025. We are confident in Samantha’s ability to drive the Hood mission forward with her expertise and dedication. Congratulations, Samantha!

We are proud to welcome Jan Farve to Hood Industries! Jan has been named Talent Acquisition & Compensation Manager and officially stepped into that role this week. Jan will focus on ensuring Hood attracts and retains top talent to meet the challenges of today and build success for the future. She brings a wealth of experience to Hood, with over 12 years as a human resources director. Procurement staff Chandler Carr, Ken Stocks, Adam Lindsey and Marshall Callicott attended the event. Marshall Callicott (pictured far left in the second photo) was part of the Timber Harvesting Committee that selected the Mississippi Logger of the Year.
