😶 One-third of patients admitted to the hospital for surgery for in-patient procedures faced complications. With nearly half of the events classified as major and most potentially preventable. BMJ Nov. 2024 Patients were admitted for surgery in 2018 in the US. Based on their definition of adverse events, that is just the tip of the iceberg of undocumented complications... Adverse event: "For each patient, the reviewers were allowed to document up to eight possible adverse events.
