H.O.P.E. of Winston-Salem works at the intersection of children’s health and food insecurity. We strive to improve health outcomes in children and their families by providing access to nutrient-dense food items, as well as empower individuals to lead healthier lives.
We envision a healthier future for children living in food-insecure environments.
H.O.P.E. of Winston-Salem operates under three strategic initiatives. First is direct hunger relief for children and families struggling with food insecurity. This is our Help Our People Eat program, which is a mobile distribution of nutritious meals for kids and fresh fruits and vegetables for families that takes place on the weekends in collaboration with 30 distribution points/partners. Our second initiative is Education & Empowerment focused on food and health, which is embodied in our Kids Cooking Classes. Our third initiative is direct engagement with the local food system. This includes our weekly Neighborhood Produce Market and our hydroponic growing projects.
