A high school student. The first $50 donation in the history of Hospitality Industry Impact Initiative, Inc. - was raised by Adi... a high school student in North Carolina. We started #Hi3 16 months ago, writing all of the organization docs, revising and sharing, and achieving IRS tax exemption approval, then stalling, stalling more, and crawling back to barely breathing numerous times... and after 16 months of sharing, and giving, and giving... and then asking and asking, asking individuals that donate 10s of thousands annually to other 501(c)(3) nonprofits, and... and having to show proof of tax-exemption approval 20+ times, and still, nothing, but then.... A high school student. Showed the world that they really are the future, and we olders still have a lot to learn, or unlearn. 🤔 Adam Zembruski John Cardonia Olin Pitters Sean M. (Hi3) because it aligns perfectly with my passion for empowering the next generation of hospitality leaders. Hi3 focuses on youth engagement, connecting young entrepreneurs and innovators in hotels, restaurants, event planning, small-town tourism, and community development. This cause resonates deeply with me because I’ve seen how mentorship, education, and connection can transform lives. Hi3 is unique because it allows donors to directly connect with the individuals they’re supporting, creating meaningful relationships and making the impact personal. I’m also drawn to Hi3 because of the challenges they face. Competing with massive nonprofits that have million-dollar marketing budgets is no small feat. Hi3 is truly an underdog, fighting to make a difference in an incredibly competitive space—and I’ve always rooted for the underdog.
