At Houses For Warriors, our mission is to provide homeless and at-risk veterans with the housing, support, and tools they need to rebuild their lives with dignity and purpose. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, we specialize in transitional housing, mentorship, and career development programs designed to address the unique challenges faced by our nation’s heroes. Through our flagship Warrior Transitional Housing Program and Warrior Resilience Training, we empower veterans to overcome barriers, regain independence, and create a brighter future. Our impact goes beyond providing shelter—we foster a sense of community, purpose, and belonging. With a focus on collaboration, resilience, and service, we work alongside dedicated volunteers, businesses, and donors to make a lasting difference in the lives of those who’ve sacrificed for our country. June is PTSD Awareness Month! At some point in Veterans lives, 7% of veterans will experience PTSD compared to 6% of the general population. For female veterans, this rate is even higher at 13%. Veterans of different service eras face varying risks: • Operations Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Enduring Freedom (OEF): 15% in the past year, 29% at some point in life • Persian Gulf War Veterans: 14% in the past year, 21% at some point in life • Vietnam War Veterans: 5% in the past year, 10% at some point in life Deployment significantly increases the risk of PTSD, making it three times more likely. Veterans who use VA healthcare show higher rates of PTSD, with 23% experiencing it at some point in their lives. Among those using VA care, 10% of men and 19% of women were diagnosed with PTSD in 2021. At Houses For Warriors, we are dedicated to raising awareness about PTSD and providing support to homeless and at-risk veterans.
