  • 🐾 Relaunching the Houston Humane Society Young Professional Group (YAP) for 2025! 🎉 Building a thriving, inclusive community starts with strong and diverse leadership. We're proud to introduce the new Houston Humane Society Young Professional Group (YAP) board President Sarah Lorenz! Sarah Lorenz - YAP President I’m thrilled to serve as the Houston Humane Society’s Young Professional (YAP) President. By profession, I’m a legal assistant at Kirkland & Ellis, and outside of work, I enjoy walks, shopping, trying new restaurants, and spending time with friends and family. I’m married to a loving husband and a new mother to my little boy, Easton. I’ve grown up as a foster parent to the Humane Society, and it has always been my lifelong dream to contribute even more to the organization. In my role as President, I’m committed to establishing a clear identity and purpose for the group that aligns with the HHS mission. I will work closely with the board, ensuring that we build a strong community of professionals dedicated to advancing our collective goals. In addition to leading regular board meetings, I’ll serve as the spokesperson for the group, representing the organization in various settings and advocating for the critical work we do. I will also provide guidance and support to board members, helping everyone contribute effectively to our initiatives. Ultimately, my goal as President is to ensure that our group remains a strong, effective voice for the Humane Society and continues to play a pivotal role in advancing its mission. I look forward to seeing everyone at the relaunch event on 1/26, and I’m excited for all the great work we’ll accomplish together! YAP 🔗: https://lnkd.in/g9YJbrXg

  • Houston is home to incredible wildlife  Do you know why saving native wildlife is so important? The Houston Humane Society Wildlife Center is committed to rescuing and rehabilitating native wildlife, giving them the chance to return to their natural homes. Releasing these animals back into their habitats helps strengthen local populations and prevent genetic bottlenecks, ensuring long-term survival. In 2024, we have already treated over 5,600 wildlife patients, including species classified as 'Vulnerable' to 'Critically Endangered'. Maintaining these populations is essential as urban sprawl and climate change continue to threaten Houston's wildlife. Every animal plays a crucial role in keeping the entire population strong. Join us in protecting Houston’s wildlife!

  • 🐾 Do you recognize this pup? Reunite the puppy with his family.🐾 A sweet terrier mix puppy now named Cody was saved after being trapped in a Pearland storm drain. 💔 A couple heard its cries and called the Pearland Fire Department, who worked tirelessly to bring the pup to safety. After the rescue, the City of Pearland Police Department Animal Services cared for Cody, warming him up and assessing his needs before transferring him to the Houston Humane Society Animal Clinic so he could receive immediate veterinary care. The puppy is now safe at the Houston Humane Society and did sustain minor injuries. The dog does not have a microchip, so we’re holding them for 72 hours in hopes the family comes forward. If not, this adorable pup will be available for adoption. 📍 Shelter: 14700 Almeda Road 🐕 To reclaim: Bring proper documentation 🎉 Reminder: Microchip your pets before New Year’s fireworks! "We’re extremely grateful for the quick response from first responders in getting the puppy to safety and working with us to make sure he receives the necessary medical treatment to recover and feel better," said Aaron Grady, Shelter Director at Houston Humane Society. "We’re hoping to reunite the puppy with his family. If not, we’re here to provide the safe shelter and support he needs on his journey to finding a loving forever home." A huge thank you to the City of Pearland Police Department Animal Services, the Pearland Fire Department, and our amazing community for coming together to save Cody.  The Houston Humane Society Animal Clinic offers microchipping services seven days a week. Let’s keep our furry family members safe and sound!
