A huge THANK YOU to the amazing team at Workforce Solutions for your partnership and dedication! At the Houston West Chamber of Commerce, we were thrilled to meet with Workforce Solutions and Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County a few months ago to explore how we could support our community. What started as just an idea has blossomed into something truly impactful—our first Live.Work.Ride event! The event was a resounding success, connecting hiring employers along the 82 Westheimer bus route with talented job seekers. The turnout was incredible, with many candidates networking with employers and the training room packed with attendees eager to learn how transit can be a key to career opportunities. We are so grateful to the employers, METRO, apartment complexes, housing resources, and other community partners who came together to make a difference. A special shoutout to Gerardo Villalobos Jr., Steven Marquez Solis, Angela Montgomery, James Green, and Gino D Morin for being incredible Workforce Solutions partners!

You can take the girl out of transportation but can't take the transportation out of the girl! Had a fantastic time with Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) and Workforce Solutions at our first Live.Work.Ride event. The event was a job fair showcasing hiring employers along the 82 Westheimer bus route. The day was a success as many candidates showed up to network with the employers. In addition, the training room was packed with job seekers wanting to learn how they can ride transit to work. We appreciate all the employers, METRO, the apartment complexes, housing and other resources that came out and helped make the day a success. And a special thanks to Coby Johnston with Houston West Chamber of Commerce! The next Live.Work.Ride event is already in the planning stages! If you are an employer or area partner interested in learning how to get involved with a Live.Work.Ride event please reach out! Thanks to all the Workforce Solutions partners that were in attendance! Small business owners, great news! The State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) is here to help you access the capital you need to grow. The program will be rolling out in 2025, with $10 billion allocated through the American Rescue Plan Act, making it easier for small businesses to secure loans, investments, and guarantees. Programs include loan guarantees, venture capital, collateral support, and more — all aimed at reducing barriers to financing. To apply, contact the Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office to learn about the specific programs available and how to get started. Let’s make the most of this opportunity to boost our community’s small business growth! Click here for infomation: https://lnkd.in/gaX8TK3D #SmallBusiness #FundingOpportunity #SSBCI #HoustonBusiness
