About us
The Advanced Fellowship in Health Professions Education Evaluation and Research (HPEER), funded through the Office of Academic Affiliations (OAA), is an interprofessional, 2-year fellowship for post-doctoral and post-masters fellows in curriculum design and implementation, evaluation, and research. HPEER fellows are trained with the knowledge and skills to lead, evaluate, and transform health professions education. There are 8 HPEER sites located in VA hospitals across the United States: (Boston, MA; Cleveland, OH; Dublin, GA;Houston, TX; Salt Lake City, UT; San Francisco, CA; West Haven, CT; and White River Junction, VT). The Coordinating Center (CC) was established in 2021 with leadership from Houston, TX and White River Junction, VT and is physically located within the Houston Center for Innovations in Quality, Effectiveness, and Safety (IQuESt) at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center and Baylor College of Medicine. The Coordinating Center is responsible for the development and execution of a coordinated, cohesive national HPEER program, which includes curricula development and delivery, program evaluation, continuous program improvement, site support and engagement, outreach, and marketing.
