An Israeli airstrike in Lebanon that killed three journalists and injured four others last month was most likely a deliberate attack on civilians and an apparent war crime. New research reveals US equipment was used in this attack. Andrew Stroehlein discusses in his Daily Brief:

I spoke to FRANCE 24 about our research into violations of Indigenous rights at the Southern Cardamom REDD+ Project ran by Cambodia's Environment Ministry and conservation organization Wildlife Alliance, with support from Wildlife Works and Everland , and certified by Verra. We've made it clear Verra can't be trusted to ensure projects don't violate rights, and their mechanisms for grievance redress are completely inadequate. As for buyers, the least private companies should do is conduct human rights and environmental due diligence on their purchases of carbon credits. The full documentary is available here, and also features an Indigenous Chong family who says they lost their farmland as a result of the REDD+ project's implementation: https://lnkd.in/eQCU-2sX I interviewed several people like them in Cambodia for our HRW report "Carbon Offsetting's Casualties": https://lnkd.in/gfA-stQm Our advocacy for accountability is ongoing and we will launch new actions soon - watch this space.
