HVADC's Executive Director Todd Erling participated in the Hudson Valley rural roundtable. Watch the video to see what he had to say. Thank you to Comptroller DiNapoli for assembling a varied group of stakeholders representing a diverse set of interests, but who share a common goal - to strengthen the resiliency of our rural communities. https://lnkd.in/eHQptgmh
New York's rural communities are important. I’ve held two rural roundtables in recent weeks in the Hudson Valley and Finger Lakes. My office brought together a diverse group of New Yorkers, community groups and farmers to discuss issues facing our rural areas, including housing needs, broadband and our food system. The challenges facing rural communities are real but the opportunities, if we better understand how to work together, are enormous. Here is a some of what we discussed 👇 and some of the work my office has done: https://lnkd.in/eHQptgmh Hudson Valley AgriBusiness Development Corporation Cornell University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress Julie Suarez

With the HVADC Dairy Funding Accelerator in full swing, program advisors Kimberly Hickok, Megan Harris-Pero, Esq., Rose Wilson and Sylke Chesterfield visited participating farm North Country Creamery. The program combines virtual and in-person training for small-herd farmers to help each participant meet their individualized business needs and prepare to apply for grants.
Spent much of yesterday in Keeseville, NY at North Country Creamery. Farm owners, Ashlee Kleinhammer and Steven Googin, gave us a lovely tour of their farm, cheesemaking operation and on-site farm store. The group included fellow farmers and consultants, like me, engaged by Hudson Valley AgriBusiness Development Corporation to provide support for farms and other agribusinesses. Thanks Sylke Chesterfield for organizing our field trip. In this pic I'm with Megan Harris-Pero, Esq. and Rose Wilson (who I finally got to meet in person!). As we go into the holiday season, please remember to support as many local food producers as you can.

Since receiving business support through HVADC’s Agribusiness Loan Fund Program last year, the Hudson Valley Seed Co (HVSC) has undergone a remarkable transformation. This year HVSC opened a new retail store and education center at its farm in Accord.
