Hy-Line International is proud to announce the appointment of Jamie McIntosh to the Hy-Line technical services team as the Alternative Systems Specialist for Hy-Line's Global Technical Services Team. Jamie is based in Scotland and will be offering technical support to the Hy-Line worldwide customer base. Jamie brings expertise to the team from his decade and a half experience in free range, barn and aviary systems egg production. Today more than 20% of the eggs produced in the world are in alternative production systems (noncage) and continues to grow and more and more of Hy-Line layer customers are utilizing these systems especially in North America, Europe and Australia/New Zealand. The Hy-Line International team wishes to thank the fantastic group of people from the Latin America region who joined us last week for the IV Hy-Line Latin American Breeder and Hatchery Congress in Miami, Florida USA. It was our pleasure to receive our distribution company colleagues from all around the region for the 2.5 days of lectures and discussions on topics relevant to breeder and hatchery management. Also, the allied industry speakers were topnotch offering their unique insight to the breeder and hatchery business. Hy-Line values these in-person meetings which allow us to better understand our customer's requirements while allowing our experts to share the latest information in a live format. We look forward to further engagement with the market in 2025!

Hy-Line kicked off its IV Latin America Summit for Breeders and Incubation in Miami, Florida this week. Experts from the industry and Hy-Line received Hy-Line breeder and hatchery managers from the Latin America region for 2.5 days of presentations and discussions on the latest issues regarding day-old chick production and distribution.

“Pullet development is key to layer success”, and “the full range of genetic potential can only be seen with the right foundation” said Princess Cortez, Technical Specialist & Lead Nutritionist to Asia. Productive and profitable layers begin with good-quality pullets. Proper development during rearing ensures: 1- Optimal Body Weight and uniformity: Enables timely maturity and consistent egg production. 2- Enhanced Egg Quality: Produces stronger shells and better internal quality. 3- Peak Performance: Supports sustained, high production levels. 4- Longevity: Improves resistance to stress and disease, lowering mortality. 5- Maximized Genetic Potential: Enhances flock efficiency and profitability. Investing in proper pullet development to achieve correct body weight, conformation, and uniformity at the start of egg production will enable pullets to reach their genetic potential, maximizing returns for egg producers.

Hy-Line International received a group of Mexico and Central America nutrition experts to the Hy-Line corporate office in Iowa this week. Edgar Hernandez, general manager of Hy-Line de México, lead the delegation as Hy-Line technical staff conducted a Nutrition Summit discussing in-depth topics related to feeding Hy-Line white and brown egg varieties. Feed represents some 75% of the cost to produce an egg and around the same 75% amount in greenhouse gas emissions related to egg production making feed efficiency both economically relevant as well as important for your sustainability efforts. Proper, precise feeding of the laying hen at every stage of development and production is essential to success.
