About us
IAP2 is an international association of over 12,000 members who specialise in public participation (P2) practices around the world. Members in 26 countries link together through national affiliates who form an international federation of practitioners, academics, facilitators, communicators, policy makers and activists energised by the mission to enhance P2 practices through planned engagement with stakeholders & the wider community. Each year IAP2 showcases good practice in P2 in the Core Values Awards. These awards provide a vehicle for success stories to be shared internationally. IAP2 is in partnership with newDemocracy Foundation, the Deliberative Democracy Consortium to publish the Journal for Deliberative Democracy bringing the latest research to and from the field. IAP2 provides advice and support on how to embed public participation practices to enhance quality in decision making to governments, community organisations, industry and multi-lateral platforms. In recent years this advice has included at the international arena submissions to UNDP Sustainable Development program, US Open Government Initiative and Soros Foundation Kazakhstan. IAP2 supports and promotes the Brisbane Declaration on Public Participation that was initiated in 2007 & presented by the Australian government on behalf of IAP2 internationally to the UN.
