WELCOME TO IARP Northeast! We are the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (IARP) chapter representing the states of Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York and Rhode Island. Our membership is comprised of Life Care Planners and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors who work in the field of rehabilitation. Our mission is to serve the rehabilitation community by providing education, professional development, and networking opportunities for our members. We are dedicated to promoting and advancing the field of rehabilitation through our various programs and services. As a member of IARP Northeast, you will have access to a wide range of educational opportunities, including courses and workshops that will enhance your skills and knowledge in areas such as Life Care Planning and Vocational Rehabilitation. Our events and conferences provide a platform for members to connect with their peers, share ideas and best practices, and stay up-to-date on the latest developments in the field. In addition to education, we also offer professional development opportunities, such as networking events, to help our members expand their professional networks and connect with other Life Care Planners and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors in the region. April is Occupational Therapy Month! Did you know: · OTs work with people across the lifespan, from premature babies to end of life · OTs are the only profession who help people do what they need and want and to do using daily activities (occupations) · OTs consider “occupations” any activity pursued during one's life, including sleeping! · OTs utilize evidence-based research · OTs can be found in schools, hospitals, outpatient clinics, nursing homes, residential homes and supportive living centers · OTs can work as case managers, ergonomic consultants, orthotic consultants, life care planners, driving evaluators, and home modification consultants to name just a few · OT education is broad based and includes physical, psychosocial, and cognitive · OT profession has existed for over 100 years, originating in WW 1 This month we would like to celebrate all occupational therapists especially our fellow IARP members in the Northeast Chapter!
