Did you know? Each year, the federal government distributes around $1.2 trillion in grants, including over $40 billion for tribal communities in FY23. These grants support critical programs like housing, education, and health care – and they're common targets for fraud. ID.me works with agencies like the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and U.S. Department of the Treasury to make sure grants reach the communities for which they are intended, not fraudsters. At the recent Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) Tribal Providers Conference in Anchorage, Alaska, ID.me joined Tribal leaders, federal agencies, and experts to discuss solutions for improving access to federal grants. Through our year-long collaboration with HHS and Treasury, we’re tackling fraud and helping underserved communities – particularly tribal users – enjoy secure access to vital federal resources. Here’s how we’re making a difference: ✅We accept Tribal IDs in the verification process, giving users who lack other documentation secure access. ✅Our Tribal Help Guide addresses the specific needs of tribal users navigating verification. ✅We support Navajo and 240+ other languages for video chat verification. ✅We offer flexible verification options, including online, video chat, and in-person. #ICYMI: Recently, we co-hosted a Government Technology webinar, "Streamlining Services and Safeguarding Trust," featuring Barry Condrey, CGCIO, CISM, Senior Fellow at the Center for Digital Government; Demetrios M., Commissioner of the Virginia Employment Commission; and Jeremy Haynes, Sales Director at ID.me. The group discussed a remarkable story of innovation at the Virginia Employment Commission (VEC): Facing a surge in demand, VEC partnered with ID.me to create a more streamlined, secure system for Virginians seeking benefits. The results? ➡️ 173% increase in usage by Virginians seeking benefits from the VEC year over year ➡️ Weekly inbound calls dropped to 21,000, an "extreme low," allowing staff to focus on complex cases and provide deeper, more meaningful support. ➡️ Staff saved over 9,300 hours in just six months, while wait times plummeted. But this transformation wasn't just about numbers. Demetrios M. described the experience as a "morale boost" for the team. Today, over 1.5 million Virginians have verified IAL2 accounts with ID.me, accelerated by VEC's "It's easy with ID.me" campaign. "We ran like a startup," Melis shared, emphasizing the sense of urgency and collaboration that made this success possible. 🎥 Missed the discussion? Did you know? Taxpayers lost between $233 billion and $521 billion to fraud each year from 2018 to 2022, representing 3% to 7% of federal spending annually in that period. In his op-ed for The Daily Signal, Blake Hall, Founder and CEO of ID.me, outlines how the incoming administration can take decisive action to combat fraud. By implementing modern solutions, we can safeguard taxpayer dollars, improve government efficiency, and protect Americans from identity theft. Key steps include: 1️⃣ Broader use of shared services for login and identity verification. 2️⃣ Adoption of rigorous identity verification guidelines for high-risk transactions, like delivering SNAP or Medicaid benefits. 3️⃣ Use of advanced fraud controls, such as biometrics. 4️⃣ Deployment of "liveness detection" technology to distinguish real individuals from deepfakes. 5️⃣ Use of emerging technologies to detect other generative AI-driven fraud tactics. 6️⃣ Identity resolution to prevent duplicate or stolen identity use. 7️⃣ Elimination of outdated Knowledge-Based Verification (e.g., "security questions"). 8️⃣ Leveraging private-sector innovation for faster, more secure solutions. 9️⃣ More funding for fraud investigations to recover stolen funds and deter future attacks. Stopping fraud isn't just about saving taxpayer dollars - it's about protecting the well-being of all Americans. Learn how these strategies can save billions and put individuals back in control of their identities. 📖 Read Blake's full op-ed here: https://lnkd.in/ei_uu3Jt #IDme #DigitalIdentity #FraudPrevention #GovernmentEfficiency #Innovation

ID.me is honored to serve our nation's heroes through our partnership with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. ID.me Founder and CEO Blake Hall sat down with Sarah Kallassy on The BLUF to share the story behind ID.me and how it's revolutionizing access to benefits for Americans, including millions of military members and their families. Blake discusses how his military background inspired him to found ID.me. After seeing veterans face hurdles to accessing the benefits they deserved – including the need to carry sensitive documents like DD214s to verify their identities – Blake set out to make identity verification safer and easier. With veterans significantly more likely than other Americans to be targeted by identity thieves, ID.me strives to safeguard veterans' personal information, reduce sign-in complexity, and meet security standards. Thank you, Sarah Kallassy and The BLUF, for the thoughtful conversation! At ID.me, we believe secure login and identity verification should be accessible to all – regardless of location, language, or resources. That's why ID.me is honored to attend the 34th Annual Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) Tribal Provider’s Conference in Anchorage, Alaska, from December 3rd-5th to highlight how inclusive digital identity solutions can reduce the administrative burden for tribal grant recipients. Earlier this year, ID.me supported the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on its Tribal Customer Experience (CX) Pilot for Post-Award Reporting. The use of secure, portable digital wallets provides tribal users with a better customer experience, less friction, and access to related programs at other agencies. ID.me has taken multiple steps to make identity verification more accessible through: 📄The use of tribal documents in its verification process, opening up new options for users who only have tribal IDs or who lack other documentation 📘A Tribal Help Guide tailored to address the needs of tribal users 🌐Accommodating Navajo as one of the 240 languages we support for users of our video chat verification pathway ✅Multiple pathways to complete verification in a way that works for their communities, including online self-serve, video chat, and in-person verification ID.me remains committed to working closely with federal agencies and American Indian and Alaska Native leaders on tailored solutions to improve access to essential government services.
