We create compelling digital experiences and design integrated hardware products to engage visitors in public spaces.

About us

Ideum (www.ideum.com) is an experience design company focused on using emerging technologies to create public installations and products that lead to memorable visitor experiences. Ideum’s multidisciplinary team of interactive exhibit developers includes industry professionals from a diverse set of backgrounds, including designers, programmers, exhibit fabricators, and experts in a range of educational and scientific fields. We believe that interactive exhibits provide unique opportunities for storytelling and social interaction. Our deep understanding of new technologies, compelling narratives, and the design opportunities they present allows us to create exhibits that are first-of-their-kind. We have developed interactive exhibits that utilize emerging technologies such as: touch tables, tangible object interfaces, projection mapping, video walls, LED lighting, and a variety of electronic components. Our projects have explored topics in art, science, history, and culture. Our collaborators are influential museums, Fortune 500 companies, and other innovative institutions. Our holistic approach to design, technology, and the visitor experience sets us apart from other companies. We stand apart from many other interactive design firms not only because we build unique standalone hardware products, but because we also develop content and specialized software. Being accomplished in content development, hardware, software, and custom fabrication means we understand the full spectrum of skills and components necessary for creating immersive and compelling installations. In addition, Ideum is an A/V dealer/distributor and has partnerships with 3M, Barco, BrightSign, Christie, Crestron, Intel, LG, and others. https://linktr.ee/ideum

We’re thrilled to share that Ideum was recently awarded first place in the Interior Exhibit Category at the National Association for Interpretation (NAI) awards for the Dueling Dinosaurs exhibition! The interactive exhibits are the result of over 2 years of collaboration between Ideum and the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, bringing visitors up close to an extraordinary one-of-a-kind paleontological discovery—two dinosaur skeletons frozen in what appears to be a combat scene from millions of years ago. Yesterday we had the honor of attending the Veteran’s Day commemoration at The National WWII Museum in New Orleans. This Veteran’s Day ceremony also marked the opening of the new Fighting for the Right to Fight: African American Experiences in World War II exhibit. The exhibit highlights the “Double Victory” campaign, in which African Americans fought against fascism abroad and for equality at home. We are honored to tell this story in collaboration with the National WWII Museum and StoryFile.

Today we are celebrating Veterans Day. At Ideum, we have been fortunate to collaborate on multiple projects that honor the men and women serving our country. This week, our video crew is traveling to Louisiana and Rhode Island to conduct two interviews for the "Pathway to Peace" exhibit, currently in development for the Battleship Missouri Memorial. These WWII veterans, who were present on the deck of the USS Missouri during Japan’s Surrender on September 2, 1945, will share their firsthand accounts of this historic moment. Their stories will further enrich the interview experience within the exhibit, adding to the interview with Mr. Ed Buffman (who is pictured in this post), and providing visitors with a profound and personal connection to one of history’s most pivotal events. As we prepare this exhibit to debut next year on the 80th anniversary of the Surrender, it is a profound honor to record these veterans’ voices. Preserving their memories ensures that future generations can learn from and appreciate the courage, resilience, and sacrifice of those who shaped the course of history.

Frank Clay, Head Curator of the Battleship Missouri Memorial, visited Ideum's facilities during the early stages of the "Pathway to Peace: USS Missouri's World War II Experience" exhibit build. During his visit, he toured the workshop and fabrication areas, gaining insight into the production process. Frank also made key decisions regarding the finishes for the object cabinets and exhibit title lettering material. #pathwaytopeace #pathwayto80 #ussmissouri #exhibitdesign
