The 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 (𝗡𝗔𝗦𝗖) brought together top student teams to solve practical, data-driven challenges, such as: - Predicting data center usage metrics - Inferring user preferences from chatbot conversations - Forecasting serverless cloud application invocation rates Finalists presented their solutions at the IEEE Big Data Conference in Washington, DC, judged on: - 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 - 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘁𝘆 in applying machine learning techniques - 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 Congratulations to Purdue University (Bilal Saleem, Hasan Mahmood, and Omar Basit) for winning, with Rice University (Daniel Leeds, Harrison Huang, and Jonathan Mak) and San José State University (Eliot Hall) as runners-up. 🇮🇳🇺🇸Among some amazing engagements during my recent trip to #India, I had the honor of participating as chief speaker at the event "Atmanirbhar Bharat: The #Semiconductor Opportunity", organized by Dinanath Kholkar in association with COEP Technological University and IEEE Pune Section in Maharashtra! My gratitude to Padma Vibhushan esteemed Dr R A Mashelkar, President, Pune International Centre (#PIC) for felicitating me with an honorary membership of PIC - truly a great honor and privilege! Later in the week at the High-Level Semiconductor Roundtable 2025: Forging India-U.S. #Innovation in Mumbai, held at the U.S. Consulate General Mumbai, Consul General Mike Hankey joined me, along with leaders from industry, government and academia in western India to explore trends, challenges, opportunities, and recommendations for enhancing the bilateral U.S.-India partnership to foster technological innovation in the #semiconductor sector. I was delighted that my alma mater Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI), led by Sachin Kore participated in the initiative. A huge thank you to Rob Anderson, Amrita D'mello and Saurabh Pramod Shah for organizing the event, and inviting me to share my thoughts. Jyotika Athavale, the Director of Engineering Architecture at Synopsys Inc, has been awarded the 2024 IEEE Women in Technology and Leadership Award. She is also the Chair of the 2025-2026 IEEE Women in Engineering International Leadership Conference and the 2024 President of the IEEE Computer Society.
