#IFEEDER was pleased to be able to organize this panel and advance the discussion on LCA harmonization needs for the animal feed and pet food industry (American Feed Industry Association (AFIA).
We all gave a 👍 in agreement on the need for harmonization of LCA's for feed and agriculture. The whole supply chain would benefit greatly from standardization of guidance on decision making within the ISO standard and from development of an open and transparent LCI database. A big task, but if we don't work on tackling it environmental footprinting efforts will remain challenging. The Institute for Feed Education and Research is accepting proposals for a project to analyze how vitamin and amino acid supply fluctuations could impact U.S. livestock production and pet health. Amid recent global supply chain issues, this research will help stakeholders understand and address potential risks to animal health and feed efficiency. Phase two focuses on standardizing data measurement, enhancing Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) and highlighting environmental benefits.
