We're proud to announce a new Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) funded IHI-PROMINENT publication! Our recent study in Alzheimer's Research & Therapy explains how a stepwise, data-driven approach can enhance dementia diagnostics. Using the Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS) by Combinostics, streamlines diagnostic pathways for syndrome diagnosis, identifying dementia etiology, and determining eligibility for disease-modifying therapies. Key findings include: The tools helps to efficiently reduce unnecessary testing while maintaining diagnostic accuracy. It supports clinicians in selecting the most relevant diagnostic tools. This contributes to ensure that patients will receive more timely and accessible diagnoses in future. 👉 Read the full paper: https://lnkd.in/eqCw5sHy Congratulations to the authors: Aniek van Gils, Antti Tolonen, Argonde van Harten, Sinthujah Vigneswaran, Frederik Barkhof, Leonie (N.C.) ** paper alert! ** https://lnkd.in/defKuBqR Aniek van Gils published a data-driven approach to efficiently guide stepwise diagnostic testing for three clinical scenarios: 1) syndrome diagnosis, 2) etiological diagnosis, and 3) eligibility for DMT. Using a digital cognitive test cCOG, as prescreener, and a AI based classfier, we were able to create accurate and efficient diagnostic pathways. As such, a data-driven tool holds promise for assisting clinicians in selecting tests of added value across different clinical contexts. This becomes especially important with DMT availability, where the need for more efficient diagnostic pathways is crucial to maintain the accessibility and affordability of dementia diagnoses. In IHI-PROMINENT we will test this approach clinically. Many thanks to all co-authors for a great collaboration: Antti Tolonen, Argonde van Harten, Sinthujah Vigneswaran, Frederik Barkhof, Leonie (N.C.) The second day of our Innovative Health Initiative (IHI)funded IHI-PROMINENT consortium meeting started with a presentation by Sofie Persson (IHE - The Swedish Institute for Health Economics) about real-world evidence for new health technologies. This was followed by Lena Sannemann who spoke about the implementation, evaluation and validation studies that will be conducted to ensure that our digital platform meets the needs of both specialists as well as patients. Next, we discussed the private sector contributions in PROMINENT with a presentation by Lennart Thurfjell (Combinostics). Before moving onto our networking coffee break we took a nice group photo at the beautiful premises of Fundación Pasqual Maragall. Shortly after, Christophe Bintener (Alzheimer Europe) presented on the communication activities, followed by Sebastien Libert (Alzheimer Europe) introducing the work on Public Involvement. Last but definitely not least, our excellent Project Managers Andrea Martí del Rio (SYNAPSE Research Management Partners) and Anna Hansson (Karolinska Institutet) presented on the management aspects of the project, noting that the consortium is well aligned with the planned timeline and deliverables. We'd like to thank all consortium members for their great contributions and wish them safe travels home!
