✒️ In the current AR issue, Anne Vehlow, Simon Lagies, Manuel Pfeifer and Nils Cordes, among others from Technische Universität Dresden, investigated four different #propolis #extracts originating from different countries (Germany, Ireland, South Africa) in 3D matrix-grown human #lung #cancer cell models. ➤ They reported #cytotoxicity in a propolis type-, time- and cell model- dependent manner. In the four ethanolic propolis extracts, coumaric acid, caffeic acid phenethyl ester, pinocembrin and chrysin presented the major compounds identified. ➤ Combining propolis with X-ray irradiation showed the radiosensitizing potential of propolis in human lung cancer cell models. ➤ The cytotoxic and radiosensitizing effects differed greatly between the four propolis extracts; further studies are needed to differentiate propolis species and their anticancer properties to pave the way for translating these results to the clinic. 🔗 Read the full study here: https://lnkd.in/dZjtNknu #LungCancer #AnticancerResearch #Oncology

✒️ In the current AR issue, Alexia Giro Vocel, Myriam Kossai, Yannick Bidet, Ioana Molnar, Maureen BERNADACH, frederique penault-llorca, Xavier Durando and Nina Radosevic, among others from Université Clermont Auvergne, performed an interim analysis of the PERCEPTION study, to evaluate the correlation between tumor infiltrating #lymphocytes (TILs) and peripheral #blood components at #diagnosis of triple-negative #breast #cancer (TNBC). They reported no significant correlation between #neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio and TILs, but found a positive correlation between the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio and the CD8/FoxP3 TILs ratio. ➤ Their findings show a potential link between systemic #inflammation and local immune response and suggest that combining blood cell counts with TIL assessment could lead to more accurate predictions of TNBC patient outcomes. 🔗 Read the full study here: https://lnkd.in/dRMBT3kv #BreastCancer #Oncology #CancerResearch

I am thrilled to announce the publication of my first article as first author, titled “Potential Transcriptomic Biomarkers for Predicting Platinum-based Chemotherapy Resistance in Patients with High-Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer” in Anticancer Research! This review article explores recent studies using RNA-sequencing technologies to identify transcriptomic signatures that may help predict chemotherapy resistance in patients with high-grade serous ovarian cancer. We provide a comprehensive overview of the current research landscape and discuss promising perspectives for future studies. Moreover, we discussed the challenges of validating biomarkers across different studies and publicly available datasets, particularly when study details are incomplete or inconsistent, which might impact reproducibility and reliability. I am grateful to Joanna Łopacińska-Jørgensen and Estrid Høgdall for their collaboration and guidance on this project. ✒️ In the current In Vivo issue, Renee Fisher, Mike Epperly, Lora Rigatti, VMD, Dipl ACVP,  Donna Shields, Tony Green and Amitava Mukherjee, from the UPMC and UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, show that 3-MCA #carcinogen injection in #Fancd2 and #Fancg knockout mice induced pleomorphic #rhabdomyosarcomas. ➤ Tumor cell lines were then established and found to be transplantable. ✒️ In the currect AR issue, Jessica Silva, Francisco Peixoto, Felisbina Queiroga, Fernanda Seixas Travassos and José Alberto Duarte, among others from Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, investigated the influence of Western #diet on #mammary cancer in Wistar female rats. ➤ They reported that #westerndiet results in lower #tumor incidence, but the volume and weight of the tumors were higher. The diet also decreased #estrogen #receptor alpha and #progesterone receptor expression, while #Ki67 expression was elevated, suggesting that it could be associated with more aggressive carcinomas.
