We played an active role in garnering support for this legislation and educating congressional offices on the critical resources needed for veteran patients as they approach the end of their lives. We are grateful for Representative Mike Bost's (IL 12) leadership as Chair of the House Veteran's Affairs Committee in moving this legislation forward and for Representative Darrin LaHood’s (IL 16) support as a co-sponsor of HR 8371.

The hospice community advocates for an effective program to enhance care quality so that patients and families can make informed decisions for their hospice care. H.R. 10097 will delay the hospice Special Focus Program and increase penalties for providers who withhold quality data. Take action and tell Congress to pass H.R. 10097: https://ow.ly/Ygn150Ubcoq

At least 13 million Americans are living with a serious illness like cancer, heart failure, or dementia. While much progress has been made to improve access to palliative care and other key health care supports for this population, significant gaps remain. This new Scorecard evaluates each state’s readiness and capacity to meet the needs of patients and families facing serious illness and highlights practical recommendations to improve health care quality and cost. We are committed to ensuring that patients and families receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time. One important way we are achieving this is through our Reimbursement Work Group. As immediate past Chair Doug Irvin highlights, “IL-HPCO’s Reimbursement Work Group has helped partner with all hospices......and Medicaid, Medicare and the MCOs in the state of Illinois to successfully regain and retain reimbursement that hospices are due.” Through your support, we will continue to provide essential resources to professionals like you while strengthening hospice and palliative care services: https://ow.ly/we2E50U6w8M
