Life works in mysterious ways - "What is meant for you will not pass you by." Let's take a trip down a memory lane. It's 2014 and I am still in high school, I entered a creative photography competition by Techstars and I win a ticket to Google I/O 2014, including flights and hotel. Convincing my mother that this was a legit competition was a tough one. She thought this was an online scam and I will be human trafficked. Somehow she ended up letting me go, talk about persuasion skills 😎. I get to SF, my first trip to the USA (I grew up in Czechia & Mongolia) and my English is good enough to get around, but I didn't understand 70% of the conference 🤣 I guess you can't expect eastern European high schooler to know what SDK or API is in English. I/O was amazing - I met Sundar before he became the CEO and tried Google Glass (can we bring them back please 👀). There was a competition on whoever does the highest number of squats whilst wearing Google Glass, they would win the glasses. One guy was almost there but the Google Glass he was wearing ran out of battery -> the agony. He was so mad. What a memory! Fast forward to 2024, how crazy I have worked at Google already for 4.5 years? I've just been reflecting on my time here and remembered my crazy first Google experience back in high school. Growing up, working in tech was not even a dream, it felt so distant at that time, but here I am 😊. One encounter led to a dream which then became a reality. #lifeatgoogle #google
