#FlashbackFriday IMPAACCT Brooklyn recognizes the impactful work of Raliek LaRome Gholson, Lead Tenant Organizer, in advocating for tenant rights and community empowerment. Recently, Raliek attended a Legislative Breakfast hosted by Brooklyn Legal Services, where key community leaders gathered to address housing justice. He was joined by Councilmember Darlene Mealy, staff from Senator Roxanne J. Persaud’s Office, and The Honorable Judge Betty Staton, co-founder of New York’s first African-American female law firm. A key moment of the event was Judge Staton receiving a proclamation in honor of her 50 years of service and unwavering commitment to justice. Congratulations to Judge Staton on this well-deserved recognition. #IMPAACCTBrooklyn #TenantRights #CommunityLeaders #BrooklynLegalServices #HousingJustice #JudgeStaton #50YearsOfService #NYCCommunity #LegislativeBreakfast

Brooklyn Org has received a Special Heating Fund grant of $112,500 from the National Grid Foundation as part of a broader $2 million initiative supporting emergency heating and utility assistance across New York and Massachusetts. This funding will provide critical support to Brooklyn residents facing financial hardships during the winter months, helping ensure they do not go without heat or other essential utilities. “This generous support from the National Grid Foundation comes at a crucial time when many Brooklyn families are struggling with rising utility costs,” said Jocelynne Rainey, Ed.D., President and CEO of Brooklyn Org. “By providing emergency heating assistance, we can help ensure our neighbors maintain safe and warm homes during the coldest months of the year. This partnership exemplifies our commitment to addressing urgent community needs while working toward long-term solutions for a more equitable Brooklyn.” Brooklyn Org will partner with five on-the-ground, community-based organizations to distribute support directly to longtime homeowners in Central Brooklyn: • FDC (Flatbush Development Corporation) • Bridge Street Development Corporation • Grow Brooklyn, Inc. • IMPACCT BROOKLYN • Brooklyn Level Up 📰Continue reading: https://lnkd.in/enWmBX4x

IMPACCT Brooklyn Team Joins Annual HOPE Count to Address Homelessness This week, our dedicated IMPACCT Brooklyn staff and volunteers participated in the yearly Homeless Outreach Population Estimate (HOPE) Count. In partnership with the NYC Department of Homeless Services, the HOPE Count is a crucial initiative to survey and understand the needs of individuals and families experiencing homelessness across the five boroughs. Our team canvassed the streets and parks of Brooklyn late into the night, conducting surveys and offering resources to those without stable housing. The data collected during the HOPE Count helps shape policies, allocate resources, and develop targeted solutions to combat homelessness in our communities. We are proud to contribute to this impactful effort each year. Addressing homelessness requires ongoing collaboration, compassion, and a commitment to creating affordable housing and support services. Thank you to our staff, volunteers, and partner organizations for their tireless work to uplift our neighbors in need. Together, we can build a Brooklyn where everyone has a safe place to call home. #HOPECount #EndHomelessness #ImpacctBrooklyn #HousingForAll
