We recently hosted a conversation with Spencer Glendon, Founder of Probable Futures, and Margret Trilli, CEO and Chief Investment Officer of ImpactAssests to look at the latest scientific data and models to understand the realities of our rapidly changing climate. In the discussion, Margret and Spencer underscored the urgency of the climate crisis, exploring the role of investing in accelerating climate adaptation and mitigation strategies, as well as approaches to fostering engagement, education and climate awareness to drive collective action. 3 Key takeaways from the conversation: 1. Investors should be asking about climate change impacts as part of routine due diligence for every investment. 2. Climate adaptation remains overlooked by investors and businesses because its goals are often not as clear as other climate strategies. 3. Adaptation-focused investments must align with a just transition. Read more on our blog: https://lnkd.in/g2pJAqbK #impactinvesting #climateresilience #climateadaptation

How are climate investors defining "capital"? What's the silver bullet for advancing climate solutions? In this post, ImpactAssets' Benjamin Stephan, shares his insights from last month's #ClimateWeekNYC ⬇️
Every year, Climate Week NYC brings together stakeholders from across the globe – of all backgrounds, ages, and organizational and sector affiliations – for nonstop events and conversations on climate. With an estimated 600+ events and even more side-bar meetings, one needs to be very selective about which events to attend. For me, this meant events focused on catalyzing capital towards climate solutions. In other words, how can we get more, aligned money flowing towards climate solutions? Here are some of my most poignant takeaways from a very impactful Climate Week.

Looking for a tool to supercharge your charitable giving as the calendar year winds down? Donor advised funds, or “DAFs,” have a track record of substantially increasing annual giving! A DAF is like your personal tax-advantaged philanthropic fund: You contribute assets, receive an immediate tax deduction, and recommend grants to your favorite nonprofits whenever you choose. The flexibility of a DAF allows you to make contributions now and decide later which charities to support – allowing for thoughtful and impactful giving. At ImpactAssets, we take the benefits of a DAF to the next level: 100% of ungranted funds in an ImpactAssets DAF is invested for impact. This means every dollar in your DAF is working towards good even before you recommend grants, allowing you to preserve and grow your giving dollars while driving positive impact on the causes you care about most. Learn more about how you can make a difference with an ImpactAssets DAF at our Impact Investing Lab TODAY at 10a PT/1p ET: https://lnkd.in/g34g2JXh #DAFday #philanthropy #donoradvisedfunds #impactinvesting

Fresh from an inspiring #ClimateWeekNYC, we are feeling hopeful and energized! It was wonderful to meet with and hear from brilliant and creative climate leaders and impact investors working to solve the global #climatecrisis. We are grateful to all who joined our Private Capital Summit: Catalyzing Climate Action in NYC to explore how impact investors can meet the moment by investing in critical areas including deep decarbonization, nature-based solutions and an inclusive energy transition. Special thanks to our co-hosts Open Society Foundations, Soros Economic Development Fund and U.S. Impact Investing Alliance. We were also inspired by the many events we attended throughout the week, including those by Concordia, Federal Reserve Bank of New York, RWJF, WaterEquity, Generate, The Nature Conservancy, Confluence Philanthropy, Vibrant Data Labs, Collective Action for Just Finance, International Funders for Indigenous Peoples, Women Moving Millions, The Bridgespan Group, UBS, ImpactAlpha and Heading for Change. Climate Week NYC underscores both the need and opportunity for all of us to work together — impact investors, philanthropists, policymakers and entrepreneurs — to help drive a #justtransition to a sustainable future.
