  • Thank you to Milcah Lalam, Jolie Sifa K. Amisi, and Jessica Lembelembe for participating in a panel on strategic partnerships during Saturday's NYOTA session. We covered a lot of ground. Here are just a FEW nuggets from Milcah, Jolie, and Jessica: - An organization's strategic plan along with its values will inform the kinds of partnerships the organization wants to pursue. And those partnerships need to be pursued and developed with intentionality, otherwise "no one is going to follow up with anything you said you wanted to do." - Support from the organizations' leaders is crucial for partnership success. Management, operational, execution levels can only proceed successfully if the organizations' leaders are in full support. - Small organizations entering into partnership for the first time often have to learn how to monitor and evaluate projects. If that's the case, it's important for the organization to ask for help. Partnering organizations have a responsibility to be accountable to each other. - Be open and honest. If you need more time, have to make adjustments in the budget, or if things aren't going as planned, admit it to the partnering organization. A good partnership is one that is flexible and adaptable. - A good partnership is also built on trust. - Funding is not the only reason to partner. Organizations can partner to build capacity, share existing resources, expertise, goods, and services. And always: a healthy partnership benefits both/all partners. - Sometimes to you have to walk away from or conclude a partnership. And that's OK. - Invest in relationships before pitching partnership. - Establish clear roles in the partnership. Know who is responsible for what. Again, thank you to our panelists. #NYOTA #impactnow #impactnowwhenwomenlead #leadership #womenleaders #leadershipdevelopment #partnerships

  • NYOTA participants Louange and Wivine are working together on Module 3: Effective Communication for Advocacy. Advocacy is all about making your voice heard, but how you communicate is key to influencing change. Clear, concise messaging can break through the noise and inspire action. Tip: Start with a strong, relatable message that resonates with your audience's values. What effective communication skills do you use to advocate for your community's needs? #ImpactNow #LeadershipDevelopment #NYOTA

  • Fatuma Kavugho shared her recent insights at the close of Module 2 in the NYOTA Leadership Program: "NYOTA is the solution to the isolated and lesser known challenges of the female leader of Beni. Being dispersed, each faced challenges alone, sometimes we did not have the appropriate words to understand them in order to identify them. NYOTA came to enlighten us and help us understand our difficulties in order to find the solution. This is why we have this motivation to follow the modules until the end." • "I am very happy to share with you tonight the impact of Nyota not only in my professional career but also in my private life...Apart from the modules, Nyota brought me a new family 😊, my mothers and my sisters from whom I draw new knowledge through the various sharing of their experiences and I am so blessed. The Nyota program is a canvas that began to shine in me just at the start of the first module: Women leaders and work-life balance: how to work smarter and live better. I understood that time is my most precious asset. Discipline in managing my time is crucial. Time management is the art of prioritizing, of distinguishing the urgent from the important, of knowing when to dive headlong into work and when to take a moment of respite. Time management also means knowing how to take breaks and rest is not a waste of time, but an investment in my ability to continue and persevere. As a female leader, I have learned that I am there to influence others (women and men) to achieve a common goal. I also need to lead by example so that others are motivated to follow me. Thanks to the Nyota program, I see my supervisors as co-leaders because I also have the power to influence for the good of the organization." -Malaika, NYOTA participant on the first 2 modules of the NYOTA leadership program Join us in supporting women like Malaika. • "Nyota is like a bridge that takes me from ignorance to new knowledge. There is a change in my person and my work. In the office I could accept any task and at any time because I worked on Saturday, and Sunday and overtime... it was just a lack of time management planning, I realized that I overloaded myself unnecessarily, both at work and at home, even missing leisure time at apart from the wedding celebrations. Now I have tasks that I can classify according to priorities. I have my challenges that I am looking to find solutions especially to become professional within my work. I value myself, I sell myself, I defend myself and I know how to say no to certain proposals by communicating with transparency and sincerity. I had set a vision for myself during this training in Nyota, for example the pleas with the military authorities for the release of children detained because of their associations within armed groups... Nyota is transforming me in order to achieve my different goals as women leaders who will influence people.... With my faith in God, I hope with this Nyota program to become a leader in our North Kivu province." -Marie Bulieni on the impact NYOTA has had on her work and personal life thus far. #LeadershipDevelopment #ImpactNow #EmpowerWomen #NYOTA

  • We are getting great feedback as the NYOTA Leadership Program modules progress: "I appreciated hearing from our guest today who spoke to us about her journey as a bank executive. She stressed that as a woman occupying a decision-making position, you must first have the self-confidence to feel comfortable in carrying out your work, know how to communicate effectively with the members, and not forget to pray to God so that he precedes us in everything we do. Her presentation was motivating and inspiring." -Charline Wakine
