🚀 I’m thrilled to share that Impart Security is now officially available on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace! 🎉✨ ✨ What this means is that AWS customers can apply their Impart purchase toward their AWS commitment, and also simplifies the buying process with streamlined contractual and legal terms, enabling faster procurement. ⚡ This makes it even easier for security teams to get started with Impart, and also gives us a ton more exposure to all of the amazing teams in the AWS partner ecosystem! 🌟🤝 📋 You can see our listing on the AWS Marketplace here: https://lnkd.in/gkznCC-4

For a moment yesterday, the AI world was in a tizzy over the ChatGPT outage. Having gone through a few outages myself, I have a huge degree of empathy for those teams and engineers who are involved in responding to incidents like this. When tools go down, people step up. That’s how we keep things moving forward! ➡️

  • Ever push a bad WAF rule? It's the pits! For most WAF users, the number one fear isn't that the WAF is going to get bypassed. It's that a bad WAF rule will cause an outage. Impart Security is excited to release the WAF Rule Canary Tests to solve this problem. Designed for cloud security engineers focused on balancing security with system performance, WAF Rule Canary tests let security teams make certain any new WAF rule change isn’t impacting system availability or performance by running proactive health checks against your complete WAF ruleset BEFORE pushing to production. With WAF Rule Canary tests, Impart spins up a virtual Agent within the Impart cloud, pre-loaded with your complete WAF ruleset. Customers can then run predefined canary tests (defined as endpoints that should always be available and never be blocked, for example) against them using simulated HTTP traffic. If a canary test fails, then any new WAF rule changes will not be saved to production inspectors, proactively avoiding any potentially bad WAF rule. In conjunction with simulated blocking mode, WAF Rule Canary tests ensure that security teams won’t create WAF rules that take down production sites. • 🚨 Block Tracing is here! 🚨 Diagnosing WAF blocking behavior used to take hours of manual effort. Not anymore. With Block Tracing, you can instantly pinpoint which rule triggered a block and deactivate problematic ones, saving time and reducing downtime. Learn how this integrated feature transforms WAF management in the comments below.

  • 🚀 Deploy Virtual Patches Faster with Virtual Patch Test Cases, a 🔥 fast way for SOC analysts managing security incidents to quickly gain confidence in virtual patches and deploy them to production. 🛡️ Quickly deploying virtual patches can be nerve wracking. Most times security teams deploy them without knowing for sure whether they're going to break their applications or interfere with other firewall rules. With virtual patch test cases, Security teams can quickly develop, test, and deploy virtual patches with confidence! ✨ Key Benefits: ✅ Faster Incident Response: Test virtual patches instantly, enabling swift responses to active incidents. ✅ Better Production Safety: Apply and validate patches without production risk or downtime. ✅ Better Peace of Mind: Stop stressing that your virtual patches are going to break production https://lnkd.in/gdHdMmfg

  • Impart is excited to introduce Rule Test Assertions—a powerful tool for security engineers to develop and validate firewall rules with precision. Rule Test Assertions allow you to specify conditions, such as ensuring a request is blocked or an attack payload is flagged, and evaluate these conditions during rule regression testing before production deployment. Rule Test Assertions can be used directly within the Impart Console or integrated into CI/CD workflows via IaaC tools like Terraform. This approach helps catch potential rule issues early, reducing the risk of false positives and false negatives before your rules reach production. With Rule Test Assertions, security teams can build a comprehensive library of regression tests, enhancing WAF stability and effectiveness while ensuring reliable rule performance in every environment

What a day at #bsidesNYC!!! When I decided to speak at this event I was sure I was going to go for a few hours and call it a day. But then I looked at the agenda. WOW! what a great event. 🎙 I attended wonderful talks like: Building Cyber Products Customers Love Ross Haleliuk Why Startups Suck at Security Eric Anderson Building canaries Andrew J. Keith Erekson Developing Accessible Anti-Phishing Solutions Lydia Stepanek Supply Chain Attacks Detected by Accident Yoad Fekete Had the opportunity to share my insights in my talk "How to talk so that they will listen (and buy)" on the entrepreneur track. 💡 Was privileged to hear incredible insights such as: The blood, sweat, and tears (of pride) in bootstrapping Grace C. Insights from a Serial Entrepreneur Benjamin Fabre From Research to Product Anita D'Amico, PhD And a great panel about being an entrepreneur with Jonathan DiVincenzo Brian McHenry Lee Weiner Wesley Hales Justin Shattuck And had time to mingle, network, and engage with inspiring professionals (Chris Kirsch, Jamila E. Kashika J. Rashmi Jyoti Sekar Langit to name a few). Huxley Barbee this was one of the best events I attended in a long time, can't wait for next year! 💛

I could talk about what it’s like to start a company all day. And it’s even better when I get to do it alongside other talented folks who each bring their unique perspective. Here are some of the nuggets of wisdom from today’s panel on “So You Want To Be a Founder” with myself, Brian McHenry, Lee Weiner, Wesley Hales and Justin Shattuck at BSidesNYC. ➡️Work for a growing company and get experience! The idea for Impart actually came out of customer support requests around API security while I was at another company. ➡️Capitalize on the moment. Pay attention to unsolved problems you can solve by starting a new company. Several high-profile API related security incidents made myself and the engineering team realize there was a need for a new and different solution. ➡️Be knowledgeable about where your industry is headed. For the team at Impart, we see APIs & WAF with a next-gen agent as the next frontier of application security, and that’s where we see our role in the security space. Thanks again to the BSidesNYC team for having us there, and congratulations on hosting such an incredible event!
