Nicolas Longépé from ESA's Φ-lab presented Eve - Earth Virtual Expert at the Pi School of AI Pitch Day. EVE, the 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭, is a 𝟏𝐌 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐏𝐢 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 Imperative Space 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐒𝐀 Φ-𝐥𝐚𝐛. It is a large language model for Earth Observation and geosciences with an innovative web interface, born from Φ-lab's ultimate vision to develop an earth observation digital assistant capable of answering information and knowledge queries in natural language, providing accurate and validated content to support decision making and exploration. The impact on the Pi School community: - 𝐏𝐮𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐈, we are building EVE using advanced LLM techniques and leveraging the Pi School's expertise in training and optimising AI models.  - 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐈 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬, this project demonstrates how AI talent can impact climate research and sustainability by adapting AI to EO data. - Through 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, the Pi School community is helping to make AI models for EO more reliable, transparent and accessible. Look What happens when Earth Observation meets global collaboration for development❓ 💫 Last week’s ESA GDA Industry Engagement Day showcased exactly that — EO industry leaders and European Space Agency - ESA experts coming together to explore new opportunities to scale impactful EO solutions, share joint challenges and celebrate the success of various global ESA GDA case studies.
