SOFT SKILLS are the HARD skills. (For some…) In my mid 20’s I had a regional manager who always rolled his eyes at me because I knew so much about the lives of my staff. We were friends and I actually cared about what they had going on in life… What a JERK I was, right?! Psh! Creating a space where people could be who they are, and feel life’s ups and downs from day to day and not have to put on a front during office hours in order to be perceived as “more professional.” 😏 I had incredibly low turnover rates and employees from other branches messaging me all the time wanting to transfer to my office. Imagine, showing genuine interest in each other at work. It does wonders for morale AND for the bottom line when employees are valued as the amazing individuals they are. Folks - SOFT SKILLS are the new hard skills. We need them to: 🌟 Overcome conflict, challenges, and creative blocks so you can increase productivity. 🌟 Build a culture and reputation you’re proud of! 🌟 Manage your employee turnover. YES - Tasks and technical certifications and industry “hard” skills matter. Yes. We absolutely need those to get the job done. AND - the better we can treat the humans on our teams who have those technical skills, the more successful our brand and business becomes. Company culture matters more than ever. If you want the BEST people, who have the BEST skills on your team, you have to BE THE BEST at treating them well. Gone are the days of checking your personal life at the door!!! (Something that regional manager used to tell us to do. “No one needs to hear about your personal life here.” He said.) Happier, healthier human connections in the workplace MATTER. When people feel like THEY matter, and that you are sensitive to things they might be experiencing personally, they WILL perform better in their roles. This is why my clients bring me in to work with their teams. Leading with improv is: 🤩 Listening to learn what motivates your team. 🤩 Building trust. (Getting out of the way of your team!!!) 🤩 Unlocking creativity through curiosity and play. 🤩 Not taking everything so seriously! Create a workplace that has people excited about what they are a part of! Not an office “culture” that has their stomachs turning at the start of each workday. #business #leadershipcoaching #leadershiptraining #collaboration #improvforbusiness #businessimprov #businessskills #communicationskillstraining

We always look for the conflict. Where are the difficulties in communication in the workplace? Where are the struggles with collaboration? The solutions are easier than you think, for those willing to rise to the challenge. Improv in the workplace, in the way we teach it, isn't just silly parlor games or ice breakers. We won't make you "perform" in front of your peers. Together, we'll work through the incredibly simple, effective, and yes, FUN, mechanics and principles that make comedy work, and apply them to your individual mindset strategies so you can create a culture that people will truly thrive in. The most effective way to disempower your employees, and you may not even notice you are doing it, is… “But.” I don’t wanna tell you how to do your job, but… You did a great job on that last campaign, but… I don’t mean to sound rude, but… You’re doing really well with XYZ, but… Thanks for sharing your idea, but… “But” sucks all the air out of the room. It’s where dreams go to die. Even if you mean well and you have good intentions, the word “but” comes barging in and makes things feel negative and people will instinctively shutdown or snap to the defense. When I get to work with teams/business clients, together, we create a space where we get to see how and when we are using “yeah, but,” identify the energy and meaning behind it, and explore the alternatives by replacing that blocking energy with “Yes, And.” Send this to your company event planner or your folks in leadership development so we can create a fun and effective team experience that will help you shift the communication dynamics in the workplace. P.S. Our interactive experiences are a BLAST for team retreats!

We all know that in business, fostering a culture where ideas are valued and built upon is essential for success. This is where the improv principle of “Yes, And” makes a difference. In improv, “Yes, And” helps grow ideas, while “Yeah, But” can stop creativity. Let’s see how using feedback can boost ideas and improve your leadership. #yesand #improvrules #teamworkshop
