Koning Willem I College is one of the partners in the KA2 project IMVET (Inclusive Mobilities in VET). The goal of this project is to enable international experiences for all students. One of the key elements needed for this is to gain insight into the potential barriers students may face. For their team outing at the International Office, they chose an activity that allowed them to experience, even if just for a short time, what the lives of some of our students might be like. They visited the Muziem, a Dutch museum where you can experience what it is like to be blind or visually impaired. A blind guide took them on a journey in the dark for a few hours and showed them what it’s like when you see nothing. How do you order a drink at a bar? How do you navigate a market? What does it feel like stepping onto a boat? A pitch-dark world opened up for them, where they felt what is still possible without sight. This experience was an eye-opener and reinforced the importance of understanding the challenges our students may face. As we continue with the IMVET project, it’s crucial that we keep these insights in mind, striving to create an inclusive environment that ensures all students can fully participate in their international experiences. www.imvet.

Technical and Vocational Training
Erasmus+ project for VET providors to improve inclusive mobility
About us
The Inclusive Mobility in Vocational Education and Training (IMVET) project aims to make mobility programs more accessible for students with disabilities, in line with the European Pillar of Social Right and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Despite the known benefits of international experiences for personal development, students with disabilities face significant barriers in participating in such programs. IMVET seeks to understand these barriers through research and to raise awareness about the need for improvements.

🌍 Why Inclusive Mobility Matters in Vocational Education & Training (VET) 💡 For many students, participating in international mobility programs is a life-changing opportunity. It enhances skills, broadens perspectives, and improves career prospects. But for students with disabilities, these experiences can be difficult or even impossible due to barriers like: 🚧 Lack of accessibility in transportation, accommodations, and learning environments 🚧 Limited information about available support services and funding 🚧 Insufficient training for VET professionals to accommodate diverse needs 🚧 Bureaucratic challenges in securing reasonable adjustments for mobility programs 💭 Imagine being eager to join an Erasmus+ exchange or vocational training abroad, only to find that basic access needs aren’t met, or that support is unclear. This is the reality for many students with disabilities. 💬 What Can You Do? ✔️ Are you a VET professional? Advocate for inclusive mobility in your institution. ✔️ Are you a student with a disability? Learn about your rights and available opportunities. ✔️ Are you part of an educational organization? Support inclusive mobility policies and training. 🔗 Find out more about how IMVET is working towards an accessible future in VET: imvet.eu #InclusiveEducation #EqualOpportunities #InclusiveMobility #ErasmusPlus #VET

Development work in the IMVET project has been going on more than year already🚀 "Designing and drafting the specifications for providing more inclusive mobility programs for VET students with disabilities by delivering useful tools to schools, teachers and staff personnel." was topic for our 1st Learning, Teaching & Training Activity in Patras. During LTTA days, we got insight into the needs and barriers VET (Vocational Education and Training) students with disabilities face before, during and after their mobility. Partners shared their experiences and ideas for inclusive Erasmus+ possibilites 🌍 for diverse learners during vocational diploma education. Workshops with students and teachers from each participating countries, cultural exchanges, and collaboration fueled new ideas for developing a toolkit for VET professionals with a self-assessment tool and practical guidelines on how to make mobility programs more inclusive for students with disabilities. 📚✨

How can we make international experiences accessible to all students, no matter their limitations? That’s the question we’re tackling over the next three days with students and teachers from five different countries. It’s great to have such a diverse perspective on this topic, and explore it together with our students. VOCO celebrating ErasmusDays 2024! We introduced Erasmus+ programme and shared our students' mobility experiences to future participants. This kind of event is also a great opportunity to think about the issues we need to improve as a society! Last year VOCO had 13 disadvantaged students taking part in mobilities and we definitely plan to increase this number in the next years! Inspired by this we also held a valuable discussion on the opportunities and challenges of student mobility programs, with a special focus on supporting students with special needs in our school. 🎓✨ Together with educators, specialists, and students, we explored new ways to ensure that every student has access to the transformative experience of studying or training abroad. This conversation is a vital part of our commitment to inclusive education and is linked to our latest project IMVET, aimed at developing materials that empower vocational institutions to better support students with special needs in mobility programs. Our goal is to create practical resources and guidance for other schools and educators to make mobility more accessible to all! Through collaboration, understanding, and innovation, we can break down barriers and provide every student with the chance to learn, grow, and thrive in diverse environments. 🌐🤝 Let’s create a future where mobility is truly for everyone! #inclusiveeducation #IMVET #mobility #Erasmus+

Exciting times for the IMVET project! We are gearing up for our upcoming transnational meeting in Greece this November, where we will host a Learning, Teaching, and Training Activity (LTTA) with passionate educators and engaged students from the Netherlands, Finland, Estonia, Greece, and Spain. During this LTTA, participants will explore the crucial pathways for facilitating mobility opportunities abroad for students with disabilities. By gaining insights into what is required for these students to spend part of their education abroad, we aim to develop a comprehensive toolkit. This toolkit will be based on the valuable contributions and experiences shared by the educators and students involved. Our goal is to pave the way for inclusive mobility, ensuring that every student, regardless of their needs, can benefit from international learning experiences. Stay tuned for updates on our journey towards making mobility accessible for all! #InclusiveMobility #IMVETProject #SpecialNeedsEducation #InternationalEducation #ErasmusPlus
