It was great to visit Ponsse HQ in Vieremä, Finland, and see firsthand how they’ve shaped the forestry industry since the 1970s. Their advanced harvesters and forwarders have set new standards for efficiency, and their presence in Latin America - especially in Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina - is strong. Paraguay could be next? As we work to develop the forestry sector in Paraguay, one key challenge is training a skilled workforce. Operating a harvester isn’t just about driving - it requires precision, understanding tree species, and optimizing cuts for minimal waste. That’s why training usually starts with simulators, allowing operators to practice before stepping into real machines. Looking forward to welcoming a Paraguayan delegation to Finland this summer to explore these solutions firsthand. The discussion was centered around:           .  💡 The challenges Latin America faces in accessing impact investing capital.  💡The importance of first movers as catalysts of change. These pioneers are crucial in setting the stage for more investments in the region.  💡The importance of building networks to connect local entrepreneurs with international investors.  💡The need for understanding and mitigating the region's risks.  💡The empowerment of "missing middle" companies to foster a more equitable and socially conscious economy.  💡Valuable lessons learned from their trajectories and experiences in other ecosystems to further accelerate the ecosystem growth.    A big thank you to everyone who participated. Arecently released documentary titled “Paraguay: Latin America’s Hidden Gem” puts Paraguay’s economic, cultural and energy potential under the international spotlight. Available on YouTube, this Finnish production, supported by the Investment and Export Network (REDIEX Paraguay), captures the essence of Paraguay, which is emerging as a key destination for business and sustainability. The documentary, which includes testimonies from President Santiago Peña, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (Ministerio de Industria y Comercio de Paraguay), Javier Giménez, and several national businessmen, highlights the advantages that “hidden gem” Paraguay offers to investors and entrepreneurs.
