Today is #InternationalDayofPersonswithDisabilities and I am pleased to share a recent blog post I wrote on USAID’s EducationLinks website titled “Partnering for More Inclusive and Equitable Education: Celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities.” Back in September, I led a webinar called “Make Reading Possible for ALL Children.” If you missed it, this post is a great summary of three practical ways to strengthen #inclusion and #equity in #education drawn from that event. Thanks again to USAID, our own staff, Inclusive Development Partners, FUSALMO, and FHI 360 for contributing keen insights from Rwanda, Malawi, and El Salvador. As an organization that strives toward disability inclusion as we serve the world’s most vulnerable, World Vision USA is proud to honor this day. In fact, World Vision has committed to increasing the number of people we serve with disabilities by five times between 2022 and 2026. “Nothing without us” is a core principle guiding our approaches to co-designing and implementing education programs that serve persons with disabilities. As we celebrate #IDPD the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, let’s commit to strengthening #inclusiveeducation systems and ensure that every learner has the opportunity to succeed!

USAID Equity and Inclusion in Education Activity, with its technical partner, Inclusive Development Partner (IDP), conducted a five-day Master Trainer of Trainers (MToT) for government representatives, teachers, representatives from the Organization of People with Disabilities (OPDs), and implementing partners. Twenty-five participants from Madhesh, Karnali, and GoN agencies developed themselves as trainers in Universal Design of Learning (UDL), Universal Design of Assessment (UDA), Social Emotional Learning (SEL), and Gender Responsive Pedagogy (GRP). These master trainers are equipped with the skills and resources to cascade the ToT program to teachers from local governments on UDL, UDA, SEL, and GRP. The training provides an opportunity to redesign teaching and learning materials and approaches of the Government of Nepal's Remedial and Accelerated Learning (ReAL) program to meet the needs of all learners by following universal approaches to learning and assessment.

  • IDP is excited to share the latest graphic on School-Based Screening developed under the USAID-funded Multi-Country-Study on Inclusive Education (MCSIE), is now live on our website! This visual guide emphasizes that screening isn’t just a one-time or simple activity—it's the first step in a comprehensive system designed to ensure all children, especially those with disabilities, receive the support and services they need to thrive. Our graphic highlights: ✔️ How school-based screening acts as an initial flagging tool for further referral and identification by medical professionals 🏥. ✔️ Collaboration between families, educators, administrators, healthcare, and community workers is vital 🤝. ✔️ In USAID-funded education programming, screening activities should result in the provision of educational supports to create an inclusive learning environment for all students 🏫. ✔️ The importance of ongoing monitoring to ensure that students receive tailored interventions and services. 📊 💡 Whether you're a teacher, administrator, healthcare provider, community advocate, implementing partner, or a donor this graphic is a powerful resource to enhance your understanding of the screening process and your role within it. 👉 Visit our webpage to explore the graphic and learn how you can contribute to a more inclusive and effective education system: https://lnkd.in/e2bJfYs6 #DisabilityInclusion #InclusiveEducation #Inclusion #MCSIE
