About us

inclusive Diabetes Care helps untangle seven forms of stigma. By unraveling stigma, it is easier to understand the foundation of inclusion. Think of the IDC as a way for your team, department, or company to come together. Our approach uses the Basic Needs of Inclusion, an easy-to-understand visual representation of inclusion. Our monthly CPE program won't overwhelm your staff, either. In fact, this paced program provides hands-on, practical training that your team can use immediately!

Navigating diabetes management can often feel overwhelming, especially when we place undue pressure on ourselves to meet certain expectations. It's time to flip the script and focus on creating a sense of ease that nurtures sustainable self-care. Her candid admission of feeling 'lazy' underscores a wider issue: the need to redefine motivation in a way that promotes well-being. As professionals, it's crucial to address these barriers and help cultivate an environment where ease is seen as a fundamental need, not a luxury. This shift not only supports our clients but also empowers them to engage more fully in their health journeys. Let's start a valuable conversation: How are you bringing ease into your practice and helping normalize the need for it in diabetes care? Please do not disrespect Dr. King's legacy by quoting him and, in the same breath, express disapproval of DEI and Social Justice work. Correct me if I am wrong, but there is a profound connection between Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) work and the civil rights activism led by figures like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. DEI work builds on the foundation laid by civil rights activists by continuing the fight for equity, justice, and inclusion in modern institutions and organizations. Here's how they are connected: 1. Shared Principles of Equity and Justice 👉🏾 Dr. King's Vision: He fought against systemic discrimination and segregation, seeking fairness for marginalized communities. DEI Goals: DEI initiatives focus on breaking down systemic barriers in workplaces, education, and communities to ensure equitable opportunities and outcomes for all, regardless of race, gender, or other identities. 2. Addressing Systemic Inequities 👉🏾 Dr. King highlighted systemic inequalities, such as segregation laws, voter suppression, and economic disparities. DEI Work: DEI efforts aim to dismantle modern-day systemic biases within organizations, including hiring practices, pay gaps, representation, and organizational culture. 3. Focus on Inclusion and Belonging 👉🏾 Dr. King's Philosophy: Dr. King emphasized the importance of creating a "Beloved Community," where everyone is valued, respected, and included. DEI's Vision: DEI strives to foster inclusive environments where all individuals feel a sense of belonging and their unique perspectives are appreciated. 4. Advocacy for Underrepresented Groups 👉🏾 Dr. King and other activists gave voice to the struggles of Black Americans and other marginalized groups. DEI Work: DEI practitioners advocate for the representation and advancement of underrepresented groups in leadership, policy-making, and decision-making processes. 5. Legacy of Activism DEI is an extension of the broader social justice movement, applying the lessons and principles from the civil rights era to today's organizational challenges. 👉🏾 Dr. King famously said, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." This sentiment resonates deeply in DEI work, which seeks to address and eliminate injustices that persist in workplaces and communities. If politicians and organizations care to honor Dr. King's legacy and the past, it is important to create meaningful social justice change for the future. #DrKingDEI #SocialJustice #ErasingthePast
