We recently spoke with Louis DiModugno, Global Chief Data Officer at Verisk, who offered a clear path to strengthening insurers’ data foundations. As Louis put it, “𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶‘𝘳𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘷𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘢, 𝘺𝘰𝘶‘𝘳𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦 𝘤𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘴.”For insurance agencies, improving data accuracy and governance can set the stage for more effective underwriting, claims decisions, and customer experiences. In the conversation with Tom Wilde and Michelle Gouveia, Louis highlighted a few key points: 📈 Cleaner data leads to more reliable AI models and improved product outputs. 🔐 Strong data governance practices ensure your data remains trustworthy, helping your business scale with confidence. 🗣️ Integrating top-notch data into AI workflows helps insurers streamline operations and better serve their customers. Louis’s message is straightforward: 𝙚𝙭𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙖 𝙞𝙨 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙖 𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙝 𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙥; 𝙞𝙩’𝙨 𝙖 𝙠𝙚𝙮 𝙙𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙖𝙘𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙮, 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙛𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙬𝙩𝙝. #UnstructuredUnlocked #DataGovernance #InsurTech

“When thinking about AI in underwriting, there’s always a bit of hesitation, especially from seasoned professionals,” says Rick Russell, retired VP of underwriting for Chubb and underwriting director at Nationwide, in Unstructured Unlocked season 2 episode 11. Underwriters have their own methods, and it’s natural to be cautious when a new tool like enterprise AI enters the picture. However, showing that AI can support their decisioning process by providing accurate and reliable insights is key. It’s not about replacing their expertise but enhancing it. By demonstrating the accuracy and efficiency that AI brings to the table, we can help underwriters feel more confident and comfortable in adopting these tools. https://lnkd.in/dRCAcBAu #DataDecisioning #UnstrucuredUnlocked #InsuranceAI

In episode 9 of Unstructured Unlocked, we spoke with Parul Kaul-Green, CFA, CEO and Founder of Eudaimon Consulting, about how the definition of transformation has evolved in the insurance industry over the last 10-20 years. Parul shared how, a decade ago, transformation meant overhauling core systems like policy and claims administration. Today, digital transformation builds on that foundation, focusing on automating processes to drive efficiency and improve service. AI is transforming claims accuracy and risk management in the insurance industry, offering significant improvements in decision-making and fraud prevention. By analyzing large volumes of structured and unstructured data, enterprise AI identifies patterns, flags inconsistencies, and ensures data accuracy—crucial for both fair claims assessments and proactive risk management. 🔎 The future of insurance lies in smarter, faster decisioning, powered by real-time, data-driven insights. #DigitalTransformation #InsuranceIntake #AI

In a recent conversation with Bill Costa, former executive at GEICO, we explored how transparency can help build trust between insurers, regulators, and consumers when it comes to the use of AI. One point that stood out is how important it is for consumers to understand how their data is collected and used. Sharing this openly could reduce friction with regulators and lead to smoother adoption of AI across the industry. By being more transparent about the purpose and interpretation of data, insurers can create a decisioning process that everyone feels confident in. 😊 Let's continue to move forward with clarity and responsibility when it comes to AI in insurance. https://lnkd.in/gSUY7_-h #AI #InsuranceIntake #UnstructuredUnlocked

In the latest episode of Unstructured Unlocked, Louis shares how insurers can overcome data challenges to unlock the true potential of AI. He emphasizes the importance of clean, high-quality data in improving underwriting, claims processes, and overall risk management. Joined by Tom Wilde and Michelle Gouveia, the discussion covers the following points: ✅ Insurers often struggle with aggregating data from multiple systems, which creates discrepancies and compliance risks. Louis emphasizes the need for robust observability and usage controls to ensure data integrity and auditability. ✅ With the ability to leverage unstructured data at scale, generative AI can automate complex processes like regulatory research, risk modeling, and claims triage. There is a critical need for high-quality data to maintain accuracy in these AI-driven processes. ✅ Many insurance organizations face operational inefficiencies due to siloed systems. Creating interconnected data ecosystems can lead to more holistic, customer-centric views and better risk assessments. 🎧 Tune in for actionable insights and strategies to make your data work harder: https://lnkd.in/dSdeQ_Qe #DataGovernance #InsuranceIntake #UnstructuredUnlocked #AI

NEW EPISODE 126: Better data, better decisions Wow. This is an eye-opening one. As I say at one point in the episode, "I have just learnt more in the last 5 minutes than in the previous 10 years." I have been wanting to do an episode on data for ages, because data is fundamental to the business of insurance. However, I have struggled to find a way to discuss it that would make a good podcast episode. And then I heard an interview with Tom Wilde of Indico Data and I knew I had found my guest. Here was someone who could explain the importance of data with a clarity that even I could understand. The basic thrust of this episode of #InsuranceCovered is to make the obvious point that better data will (or can) lead to better decisions. We discuss: - the nature of the raw data received by Insurers, and how that data can become 'better data' - how it becomes actionable data; - the role of AI in this process, and why this has profoundly changed the process of analysis; - a brief history of AI from predictive AI, to extractive/discriminative AI, to generative AI, and now agentic AI; - the difference between stochastic and non-stochastic analysis; - whether AI is hyped, and what its strengths and weaknesses currently are (causation/correlation, AI collapse; hallucination; the deskilling of humans etc); It is a truly wonderful episode and I hope you enjoy it. #rpcradio #insurancerpc #insurancepodcast https://lnkd.in/etNfXTP8
