🌟 Hackathon Highlights: Luddy Hackathon Fall 2024 🌟 What an incredible experience participating in the #LuddyHackathon, hosted by the Indiana University Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering and INgineering at IU! With 72 teams competing and five unique challenge cases presented, we chose the one provided by ServiceNow: developing an API to help employees identify points of contact for products or repositories — A key solution for enhancing collaboration in an organization and teams across multiple locations. In just one intense overnight sprint, my team including the amazing individuals Yash Takte and Niranjan Tapasvi, built a complete working solution. The workflow for the project was as follow: 1) We set up a MS SQL Server from scratch, configuring remote connections to ensure the API could securely access the database. 2) We made our own custom data using Mockaroo. 3) Created a Flask API to handle query using inputs like product names or repository names, and integrated it with stored procedure for accurate and secure data retrieval. 4) Deployed the API using Docker on a virtual machine, ensuring it ran smoothly on a constant port. 5) Built a cron scheduler to automate the generation and delivery of emails containing point-of-contact details, tailored to team needs. 6) Implemented robust error handling to provide a seamless experience. The adrenaline, the brainstorming, and the rapid problem-solving made this experience unforgettable. Despite the time crunch, we delivered a solution that addressed all aspects of the challenge. While we didn’t win, the knowledge gained and the camaraderie built during this hackathon were the real victories. A huge shoutout to organizers for putting together such an inspiring event. Looking forward to more sleepless nights solving exciting problems! 🙌 Project Link: https://lnkd.in/dbASrnUQ Soon, we will be sharing a video of our project implementation! #StayTuned #Hackathon #LuddyHackathon #OvernightChallenge #Teamwork #SQL #Flask #Docker #CronScheduler #CollaborationSolutions

✨ What an unforgettable experience!✨ Participating in the Luddy Hackathon 3rd Edition was nothing short of thrilling. Honestly, I was filled with questions: “Will I be able to compete with such talented and experienced coders? Do I stand a chance?” But instead of letting the doubt hold me back, I embraced the challenge head-on. Two sleepless nights, countless hours of brainstorming, experimenting, and learning later, our team crossed the finish line with a project we’re incredibly proud of. 🎯 While we didn’t secure a win, the experience was a victory in itself. Working alongside my amazing teammates — Sanika Marathe , Chetana Thorat and Sejal Nimkar — was inspiring, and we pushed each other to reach new heights. 🛠️ Through this competition, I explored concepts like RAGs and LangChain — topics that used to sound intimidating. But diving deep into these technologies, applying them, and seeing our ideas come to life was both humbling and exhilarating. This hackathon wasn’t just about the competition; it was about growth, teamwork, and learning. I’ll share more about our project and what we built in my next post — stay tuned! Here’s to challenging ourselves, learning something new, and thriving through the process. 🚀 #LuddyHackhathonThirdEdition #SkillsInAction #LangChain #GenerativeAI #TeamWorkMakesTheDreamWork #IUB
